BEAR!
« on: March 12, 2015, 09:28:29 PM »
I plucked this off eBay earlier in the week. The photo is dated 1962 as is the tag on the MAINE license plate. We batted this around on the ECWA Facebook page and have it easily narrowed down to either a 3A or 3B. I think that side mirror holds the key to the final answer. Super cool photo either way.

Opinions?

cool picture, but tough call. the mirror looks a little high. may be a 3b??  looks like a chain in the cargo area to the left of the bear.  I wonder if it's attached to a bear trap?

The mirrors on a 3A and 3B are in the same spot and use the same one.

I blew up the pic and did some adjusting to it. Almost looks the the windshield frame is a 3B.

I think you can see the bottom of the dash too. Just need to go out and look at a CJ-3A and CJ-3B from the same angle to see where the data plate and dashboard are compared to the seat ribs.

Here it is blown up more and color enhanced to the best of my very basic capabilities.  Dash looks tall - I'm leaning more towards 3B.

Plate appears to be from '62, which might make it more likely to be a 3B?

Plate tag is definitely '62....but the Jeep is pretty ratty so it's been around awhile. Judging on condition/timing alone you could safely call it a 3A, 3B or a Model T.  ;D
