First spring Jeep Trip

In the early 1940's a B-25 Mitchell bomber crashed in bad weather on Grossman Peak just north of where the town of Lake Havasu is today. This town did not exist until the early 60's and the dam hadn't been built on the Colorado River yet. The crash site was very remote and difficult to get to. The only remaining piece of the bomber that I know of is the remains of one of the 14 cylinder raidial engines.

A friend and I started out today to see if we could find it and to hopefully get close with the Jeep. It was a beautiful day, 76 degrees and no clouds. We were successful, had some exciting Jeeping, and would like to share some photos

What are you doing to your hood?  I was curious what was hanging off your bumper too, finially figured out it was a flag on your winch cable..What sort of winch setup do you run?

Pretty cool to have good four wheeling that close to home!

I am still thinking on what to do about my hood. It is really rough and I can get one for a good price from G503  

Maybe Rommel Juan will  follow the fitting process if I bought one. If I have to rebuild a new hood to make it fit

I might as well stay with the on I have.

After seein Carl's winch in Utah, I figured the Badlands winch was about the best for the money. it works good and is easy to install. saw a new 2000# Badlands the other day for 59.00. Hard to beat the price.

Hi Mac, it looks like some nice Jeepin' country there. I will come down for some trail riding, maybe this spring. Looks like the scavengers have hauled off everything they could of the B25.

Is that a 2000 lb or 5000 like mine? It looks like you mounted it behind the bumper rather than on top like I did. Post some shots of the winch please.

I did pull my Jeep out of hibernation for a short run around town yesterday (as I do once a month during the winter). �The temps got into the mid 50s but that still ain't "short sleeve" weather. �

Here are winch photos. This is not an original Willys bumper. It is much heavier and if I had a good original I would not have cut a hole in it.

That's a really nice job Mac. I was in a hurry and didn't even consider mounting it like that. The next thing we need is a canvas cover for our winches.
