Keepin' up with Calvin! ;0)

I'm sure y'all will agree with me that you are jealous of Calvin's adventures out west and love his photos as much as I do! Well, I can't compete with that mountain scenery, but I can share some photos from the beach on Topsail Island, NC.

After attending the "Virginia Willys Jeep Thing" show in Petersburg, I trailered my CJ3A on down to visit my friend Bob Boxley in NC. You may recall Bob's CJ3A from The CJ3A Page. I started Bob off on the tear down a few years back and then connected him with Jonathan for a full resto. Bob painted his "Hummer Yellow" which is actually darker than my Dodge Yellow. I have had the pleasure of tinkering with Bob's CJ3A, installing his wipers, soft top and so on.

Anyways, having 2 yellow 1951 CJ3A's on one small island at the same time was pretty cool! We got a ton of attention everywhere we went! Much to Bob's chagrin, all of the gals at the beach wanted to hop in my Jeep for photos... of course I had the top off and the windshield down!

Enjoy the pics!

It's still legal to go on the beach at north Topsail.

Deja' Vu?

I had the top off and the windshield down and tried to remember what it was like to have wind blowing through my hair!

After the beach, we stopped at a local fixture called the Trailer Bar! Of course the pretty bartender wanted her picture taken in a CJ3A! ;)

I had to throw this pic in. It is an Army Corps of Engineers "Duck" that was on the beach. They were doing some kind of radar set-up on both sides of the inlet.
Jeeps are like potato chips. It's hard to stop at just one!

Hey Chasm,
My photos have nothing up on your photos of your two yellow Jeeps on the island and at the beach. Only way to improve that setting would be to add a third yellow Jeep.  I DO wish I could help make that happen.  I'll let you know when I win the lottery so you can prepare for my arrival.  Till then all I can do is wish.
Thanks for the pics.  They are truly great.

Finally spending the money on a car hauler has expanded my Willys' range! If you ever want to visit North Carolina, I am sure my friend down there would love to make it 3 yellow CJ3A's!

I have never seen a Willys on Topsail Island. Oldest thing I have seen there was a CJ8. It was definitely cool playing with 2 of them for a week!

Yep, you had a truly enviable experience on Topsail Island as evidences by your great photos. Thanks for posting them.  There have been other beautiful pics posted on the CJ-3A page.  They've come from Florida to Washington, California to Maine (well, not sure about Maine, but you get the idea).  They're really fun to see.  I hope more 3A members will post their pics for all to enjoy.

Such comments makes us realize we really do have a large, diversified, and beautiful country.

PS: Of course, the invitation is always open to use your car hauler to bring your Jeep and come to the desert southwest.

Yeah Chasm, I know what you mean. When I was a kid and saw something pretty or that caught my eye  my mom would tell me pretty, don't touch. Now my wife says the same thing when I see a good looking woman, pretty, don't touch.  ;D

Sorry Ryan M, forgive me, I hadn't realized your posts were coming from the beautiful state of Maine till I saw the one about the great little CJ-2A made into a fire engine.  We really do have posts coming from all four corners of the US and in between.  Truly makes this a fun site to visit.

No problem. There are a few of us on this site from Maine. Winters are very cold and very long....might was well spend them in the garage tinkering with Jeeps!

That is a LARC V. It has an aluminum hull and is 4WD. I've driven them on land and in the water.

Yet another schooling from Bob W! ::)

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck... It just may be a LARC. Guess I should have studied ornithology!
