wilys is running
« on: February 26, 2011, 09:54:54 AM »
Finally got the Willys running (again) and everything seems fine, after 3 or 4 trips totalling 25 miles.  The alternator was the only thing that I did not replace, and it gave up yesterday so replaced it. Guess it felt left out after a frame up rebuild.  Seems to run fine now.  Had to align bore and turn crank .030, which worried me, but the crankshaft shop says they make bearings for the L134 to .060 under, and he had done a few without problems.  It is not like a high rev. engine. Yep, tough little engines and good reason to be called the Go Devil engines cause of course, they go like the Devil is after them.

It's amazing how stuff feels left out and then fails to get your attention, wanted or not.

Congrats on getting it back among the living!  It's funny how you start out just "touching up a few spots" and end up looking at a bare frame  ;)

Yea, my wife came out to the shop and said "now what are you doing?"  when the bare frame was on jacks, and I said, "changing the oil".  Somehow we just get carried away.  Jim
