So last Saturday in town, there was a parade and I took Ted. I also dressed up in my brush fire gear and someone from else from the fire dept. did the same thing and rode with me. Afterwards, the assistant chief said I should put a pump, tank, some hose and a bumper sprayer on Ted so we can use him for brush fires. The funny thing is I was thinking the very same thing the day before!
I was thinking about running the pump off the rear PTO, but that won't be good because the PTO goes through the transmission and 3rd gear (or 3rd OD) would be the best to get the RPMs up in the pump and I would also want to be able to pump and roll in 1st with the pumper sprayer. So, I'm thinking it has to be driven off the engine, probably off the 2nd crank pulley. What do you guys think?
