Hello from Ashburn, VA
« on: July 20, 2018, 09:29:20 PM »
Hello. My name is Dain. I have a problem. And my wife suporrs it. I had a 1986 Jeep Cherokee 2 door in HS and college. Then after getting married and having two kids get out of car seats, I picked up a 95 YJ to get my feet wet again. Loved it and sold it to get my 84 Scrambler. I have had it since 2010 and have had to do a lot of work to it. I learned a ton rebuilding that Jeep.

Then in 2015 we sold our Expedition EL and downsized to a 2015 Wrankler (JKU). It is the one driven by my daughter. I still drive the Scrambler 2 hours each way to work and back.

For the past few years, a family friend of my wifes said he was thinking about selling his 49 3a. She wanted it and told him as much. This spring, he said it was hers if she wanted it. Just come get it. That weekend, we went up to PA with a trailer and brought it home. It is in great shape. It needs a few things, but I am very happy. I started tinkering with it and drive it weekly. I have a lot to learn though.  I am going to try to add a pic or two, but I see it needs to be hosted. I wll see what I can do.

But for now, thanks for letting me join.

That 3a looks awesome, Dain.  Nice to see these old jeeps that aren't basket cases.  I like it when people take care of them.  Welcome to the 3a page.
Tom

If you want to try some nearby trails in WV, be happy to have company for my 51 3A. I drive by Ashburn often on the toll road or rt7. Trails should open after Sept 1st.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I took the wife to anpizza joint in it tonight after installing some mirrors yesterday. Gor there fine. It did not want to start when we were ready to leave. Vapor lock?  A neighbor gave us a jump.
