Alright final verdict, I think. I am working on ordering the full housing from Midwest, hopefully today. I also ordered the spare cup from eBay despite the high price and shipping. Knowing the cups like ot get pinholes and not knowing if another will ever be available it will be good to have it on hand. No telling how long it will take to get here, but should have the other in the meantime. Theere were 3 available so there should be 2 more available for others that may need it. I'll let you know how it goes.

Still riding the fence on keeping the traditional oil bath or converting one of the housings to utilize the dry filter material. I need to get my current oil bath off the jeep and see just how dirty the internal is. Seems like replacing the steel wool and mesh is an option as well and still running it as an oil bath.

I understand now why JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket, because this thing has become a money pit, but I feel it's worth it. The Jeep was my great grandfather's, been in the family for 72 years. I want to keep it going and treat it right. When my grandparent's died the rest of the family wanted to sell it, I couldn't let that happen!

Thanks everyone for your help! This forum has been a tremendous resource for me. I'm 31 years old. With the 3B being 41 years older than me, I've entered unchartered waters, but I love learning more about it!

Sorry I'm just now seeing your request.  I only look at the site in the AM.  Seems you've gone the "overkill" route, and covering both options of parts.  Do you still need my pics and measurements?  I'm not sure what the 6.88" is, inside diameter, or outside diameter.  I can't do mm's.  My initial measurement was considered by my old eyes to be 7" outside diameter via a tape measure, not a caliper for exactness.

BTW... Mine is a '62 for a DJ3A or CJ3A for L-heads, that has the "hose snout to the carb" out to the driver's side, not "forward" for the F-Head.  Maybe that is the model Midwest pictured, since you didn't pass on those pics???  I would think the mount locations and pans are the same size for either Donaldson model, but NOT if the Military or CJ2A type air breathers.  They are taller and look very different.

Old original screen can be washed out in place, by shaking a grease-cleaner solution of choice thru the filter repeatedly, and flushed repeatedly, and allowed to dry.  It is not recommended to use gasoline type cleaner solutions.

Enjoy the "Willys experience".  You've got quite a nice Willys CJ3B specimen to work with, with both condition and family history making it "special".  Thanks for preserving it!!!  Enjoy!

I think you're okay Steve, thank you for your help. Based on the tape measurement I took off the bottom of my filter, the eBay cup seems like it would work, measuring about 6 3/4" OD. The cup inside diameter they sent was roughly 6 7/8". Carl also confirmed above that the part number listed on the eBay listing matches the number in the Universal Parts list. I checked the one for the '53 3B as well.

I agree I've gone overkill, but planning for the worst when I get into cleaning my current filter.

Thanks again for your help.
