The serial number on a 3A engine start with 3Jxxxxx. A 1950 vin will start with CJ-3A xxxxxx

Quebec Jeep is correct.� The "VIN" number will be on your data plate mounted on the fire wall, on the passenger side, in the engine compartment.� The number will start with CJ3A, followed by the number.

If the plate is gone, the Willys could have been titled using the engine serial number.� The engine number will often start with "3J" followed by the number.

A little more information from you will help us with your Willys history.

My Willys CJ3A history.� Data plate serial number...CJ3A 36662. ( very close to your number) My Willys was titled as a 1950.� In fact, it was actually made in late 1949.� It was a common practice back then to title the Willys in the year it was first sold verses the year it was made.�

My bad.I was looking at the 1965 registration receipt when my dad bought it from my uncle. engine number was on receipt.I checked plate under hood ,CJ3A  38206.

So its a 1950 according to what I found.
1950 numbers started at 37750,end 63784.

It would be a good idea to have the title corrected when you register it in your name.
