24 Volt stuff

Hey Guys,

This question is about my M38 and not a 3a.  Sorry if it does not fit but there just seems to be a lot of good knowledge here.

I am looking to return my M38 to it's original 24 volt system.  I have just started looking locally and have found a starter and a distributor.  They want $100 for the starter and $75 for the distributor.  There is no wiring of any kind included.  Are these fair prices?  Any better ideas on where to come up with the whole thing or make some of the pieces?

A friend restores military vehicles. He told me not to buy a military vehicle unless I am prepared to spent double or more the price what a CJ2 or CJ3 would for parts, if you can find them.

Seems like a fair price as long as they are good, or easily repairable. Military vehicle meets with flea markets are probably the best place to find reasonably priced parts for an M-38.

You could try looking up Midwest Military in MN and see what they have on offer for electrical parts for your jeep. If they don't have stuff they know who does.
