Bestop idea
« on: January 29, 2012, 12:48:20 PM »
Hey folks,

For those of you that have put a bestop on their jeeps, do you think that I could sew hold down straps on it like a traditional canvas one and use the original hold downs? I need a top, but wouldn't want to put a ton of those snaps around the body. I understand it might not be perfectly tight, but that is probably ok.

Thanks,
-Jesse
Its a jeep thing, but you would understand if you have ever lost your wallet.

I would prefer the hold down straps over the snaps. The reason is in the summer the top expands and in the winter it shrinks. If I unsnap my top in the winter it is almost impossible to get it snapped back. I hate to unsnap the back flap to put stuff in the rear during the winter :(.

EDIT: I forgot to add that the loops would let you adjust it as needed.

Hey Jesse,
I've got a best top with Doors that I will sell you if you need one.  Its in good shape, complete. I've never had it on my jeep but I have all of the hardware and the doors with new door hardware as well.  I was going to put it on, but I decided that I want to go with the traditional style canvas one, so this one is going to go.

PM me and we can discuss, but I too would try to minimize the snaps and use the footman loops.  Reason I can sell it cheap is thats how I got it, I traded for it and then I bought new installation hardware.
