Wow, I missed an exciting thread while away at the PA Jeeps Show all weekend! �:D

After my cracked block experience recently, I doubt that I would ever try to squeeze that extra HP out of a 60+ year old flat head. Sure, the magazines in the 50's were showing what you could do on a relatively new / low mileage engine, but most of the blocks around these days are tired and old.

Why not go with the Buick V-6 conversion that has been popular for a number of years? It fits in there and can get you the HP you are looking for, for your overdrive set-up.

I think the hardcore "correct police" that you mentioned at the MVPA shows will tear you up on anything that wasn't a period �/ motor pool modification.

Regardless, have fun with your project and by all means, post some photos! �;)

droping in a V6 or Chevy. crate motor is eazy ...I want the little 4...& Red what slow time are you talking about ??...last vacation I took was in 1997 when I went to N. TX. to shoot P. dogs when I got home I had a pink slip in my box at work & all my stuff was sitting in the hall so I don't take vacations anymore...if you're looking for old vehiciles in good shape go to N. TX. ...no rain so nothing rust...enjoyed all the post but it's time to pull the plug ....take care ...Kent

Kendak, Slow time for me is during the winter. Only have to drive 80+ miles on dirt 2 track roads "every" day checking waterlines for cattle!!!

If it's flowin, it ain't frozen. All 14 miles of spring fed gravity powered system mostly buried poly pipe :-/

sounds great be thankful ! I live in the armpit of the USA the Miss. delta ....as far as you can see around here is cotton ,rice ,soybeans & now corn...never seen a cow in person just in the local stores in the meat dept. !.LOL...take care ...Kent
