51 CJ3A WINDSHIELD
« on: October 09, 2011, 07:13:43 AM »
I haven't looked closely at this yet however the 51 I just bought has a split windshield.  However it has the flat tube frame.  I saw another picture of a cj3a with a split windshield as well.  Appreciate your thoughts.  jeffb

I've got a 50 3a, it has the one piece windshield, but the hood is clearly a 2a hood.  And the end gate is 2a as well. I do believe it to be the original hood.  I also have the dana 41 rear end.  My guess is the Willys used a lot of leftover parts from previous models rather than putting them into service inventory like they do now.

I remember hearing something about a split glass kit for the m 38, perhaps you have one of those...Basically it is a rubber gasket with a divider down the middle.  The 2A windshield interchanges as an assembly, but it has a fold out inner piece that is metal with a metal divider between the two square cornered pieces of glass. With a 2A windshield you would need to use the 2A top and doors.
