Well, I went and brought another CJ-3A home yesterday. I figured the $400 for the neglected project wasn't a bad deal. The engine had been replaced with an F-134 (anyone need one or know someone who does in the so cal area?) the body needs work but hopefully less than my current 3A. With just a few of the parts that I pulled off of it so far like 2 working vacuum wiper motors, a few working gauges, the grille, tailgate, windshield frame, a freshly rebuilt transfer case, very good looking transmission, original front and rear axles (was hoping for a 44 but it's still a 41 like my 3A), and some locking WARN hubs, I think I pretty much got my money's worth there.
All of this came at just the right time, I started my tear down on the 23rd. I drained the coolant, removed the grille (almost, ran out of time before family festivities), and started taking off all the small body pieces. I'd venture to say I'll need some help getting things tore down properly I think, so expect some stupid questions to come from me over the course of this restoration.
