So here she is, and if all goes according to plan she will look exactly the same when it hits the road, no paint, no patch panels.� Do have to do some mechanical work and seat covers but the rest will be left alone.� So this will be a preservation project, Keep it clean and dry and drive it.� There are some beautiful restoration jobs here, but that is just not for me.

Nice...looks a lot like my 47 2A..
What are those tires? They look just perfect for an old jeep.

You might want to rethink your preservation plan for the floors...They'd be a good place for some Mastercoat silver or similar rust converting stuff. Put some on there and paint over it with gray, and after a trail ride or two it will still blend right in. The rest of the underbody might benefit from a used oil bath especially in your area. Upstate NY is not gentle on old jeeps during the winter months, even stored away under a shed or in a garage.

Be sure and save that dangling step!

It looks like a great starting point! I hope your preservation works out....that is what I had planned to do, but...

Mine turned into a much larger project!

Yours is almost exactly the same color as mine was...what would you call that color?

Stony,

That's a fine candidate for a preservation.  I must second Bill's comment.  A little love to your floors would not be out of character on a preserved Willys. 

If it is structurally sound, it will help stop the rest of the Willys from shaking apart.

Yeah I have to do something to stabilize the floors and some new brake stuff.� The engine block has to come out to metal stitch a crack and hardened exhaust seats.� �I am going to try to get it mechanically sound, keep it from getting any worse, and stabilize so when my 2 year old nephew gets it he can restore it if he wishes.� The tires I believe are retreads that I put on the summer I got it, unfortunately they are so dryrotted the rubber is flaking off of the sidewalls.� I was thinking about non directionals, but they are waaaaaay to expensive, wonder if they still do retreads?� The color, used to be Potomac Gray, but my hair used to be brown, call it salt and pepper LOL.� I have to do something with the step, maybe weld it back together , but keep the angle, kinda streamlined don't you think?  The other thing is that a restoration would take years and a ton of money while and while I have the money, I don't have the time ;).� The objective is to have some fun and keep this thing going for the next generation.� Thanks for your comments.

Some times you are just lucky!� Here is my barn after Sandy dumped about ten tons of snow from the barn above, all at once, yeah she is under there!� The old top bow even saved the tailgate, and the windshield was folded down which saved it.
