Rambling, Malarky, Rants, Etc... / D-Day Anniversary in Belgium
« on: June 08, 2014, 11:59:31 AM »
I had the opportunity to be in Belgium this week while the D-Day ceremonies were going on. I was not there to participate but rather on business so my opportunity to indulge myself was limited. But I did get to Bastonge on June 5th, this has been a bucket list item for me for a long time. There is a really nice museum and war memorial there called the Bastonge War Museum, spent a couple hours there. There is also a 101st Airborne museum that I did not get to see, adjacent to the 101 is a place that rebuilds antique Military vehicle, kind of G503 place to go see. So it looks like I have not closed out the bucket list on this one.

Here is some Pics if you guys like that sort of stuff (LOL).
Enjoy, Gun.

M4 Sherman These are scattered all over town on street corners and lots.

Last weekend I was in the area so I stopped by to see Mona over at Newlife.  We had a real nice chat, she is well but very busy.  It seems she is having a very difficult time keeping the help so she is doing all the work herself.  She is now just able to keep up with incoming orders but is booked out at least 6-8 weeks.  She does not have much for completed inventory as all of that has sold and she has no time to sew up more.

So here is the good news, I did buy a set of bows from her and as we were talking we designed up a bag for the 3A bow set, then we made a prototype.  The bag is 53 inches long, 12wide, with a flap cover and snap.  I think it's a great storage bag for the complete bow set while in transit or storage.   I'm going to put a coat of paint on my bows tonight and then will post pictures this weekend.

Looks like we are finally getting out of the deep freeze in MPLS.  Should be near 40 for Saturday,  going to try and get Triple X out for a ride, may go out on the lake and bug some fishermen.  What's on your agenda guys?

The only thing I don't understand is why they where helmets.  Watch this 3 A in action, it's awesome what nitrous will do!

Rambling, Malarky, Rants, Etc... / HE MAN Contest !
« on: January 04, 2014, 08:26:47 PM »
Sunday and Monday are supposed to be the two coldest days we've had in the last two decades here in the Midwest.  That combined with the storms everywhere East of Chicago, tons of snow, it seems like we could have a picture contest to see who can submit the "most HE Man jeep photo".  Maybe it would be a candidate for the new logo thread as well.

I'll post one Sunday PM.

Rambling, Malarky, Rants, Etc... / Need help with a project

I am looking for a contribution, I have some hunting land with a primitive camp on it, you know, Out house.. A snowmobile trail goes along side the property and the outhouse is visible from the trail.  In order to keep the finances in order I thought it would be a good idea to put a donation box in the outhouse.  I recently bought this old phone, thought I would cut a slot in it and use it for contributions.  But I need the ear piece and cord in order to make the system right.  Anybody have an ear piece and cord that they would like to live in infamy?

Just for Fun  :D

So here's a little New years irony, I spent a good portion of my fall hunting on a new piece of property "up north".  Saw a few deer but nothing real exciting.  For Christmas Ms Sue bought me  new game camera, a Moultree 880 so I had to try it out.  Take a look at my visitors from the other night, Bruiser stopped by for a bit of some pumpkins and his girlfriend got a glamour shot right in the face of the camera.  Bad news, they are in my backyard, no hunting!

Glamour Girl

Oh well, eating beef until next year!

Rambling, Malarky, Rants, Etc... / Jeep in a Crate
« on: February 20, 2013, 10:41:55 PM »
I know, we've all heard this before, but this is no %$%$#$!

Late in January I had to spend some time at the local hospital getting a rebuild on a couple of wore out knees.  But let me back up, I took up this Willys thing about 5 years ago, and I never ever figured that it would consume my entire family as well!  So here I am, laying in the hospital last month when my Bride of 32 years announces that through some very astute research, she is a librarian, she found me a new jeep to work on while I re-hab at home in February.  I said, new jeep, what are you talking about, well when we got home, there it was, a Willys MB in a crate.  Wow, was I surprised.  Well over the last few weeks I've been working on it and I finally have it all put together.  I'm just now getting off of the narcotics from surgery, so I can't take it for a drive yet.  But over the next few days I'll be posting pictures of the assembly.  It took more than I thought it would to pull it all together, but its done now and I think it looks pretty good.
As always, its the pics that count.
Don't touch that dial

Rambling, Malarky, Rants, Etc... / Trip to Rome, not Georgia
« on: November 02, 2012, 12:03:07 PM »
Some of you guys expressed some interest in seeing some pics from my trip to Rome, I'll try to keep it short and sweet, but the bottom line is that every time you turned a corner there was something from ancient Roman civilization, ancient Christian, some carved masterpeice, or some other just plain outrageous piece of history.  I was really amazed at the size of the roads, and the cars so we'll start with that and then go to the tour guide stuff.  Just think about how easily a jeep would fit on these streets!

Enjoy. And by the way, the trip was a gift from work, I can't afford to this kind of stuff on my own.

Here's a pic of me and a friend, we found this little car on our way to get some gellato with the wives.  Now this is small!!

This s real typical of the streets, you can get a small car down it, but then they put the cafes on the street to ge more seating so now its real crowded!!

I'm not sure who she is, but I like having here I the picture.

Blue Grotto, Isle of Capri, my father in law did R&R here, he was in the 15th Airforce, 1944.

More Vatican

Trevi Fountain

Pantheon, oldest church in Europe and the only building with a perfectly round dome.  It has a hole in the top that is larger in diameter than the dome of  St. Peters.  But due to the design, no rain water ever falls into the church.

Yup, collisium cool all by itself

There is way more to share, but I'll leave you with this shot of ancent Rome, andSt. Peters bascillica.  There are 400 churches in Rome, one on every corner, if you get a chance, its pretty cool.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Rambling, Malarky, Rants, Etc... / Off Topic great Trip

Hey folks,
Just last night Sue and I returned from 8 days in Rome, Italy not Georgia, This is a trip that I would reccomend for everyone, we did all of the great monmuments, the Colleseum, the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Palatin Hill, the Forum, the Pantheon, it was amazing.  While I was there we kept looking for Military Museums that might have 15th Airforce or an American Army tribute. There were some miliraty museums but they seemed to focus mostly on Italian Military. And unfortunately we were not able to get to Monte Cassino, drove by it..  My one amazing revelation was the size of the roads and just how appropriate our little jeeps are for this city, Mercedes has an A and B class car they sell there and Audi has an A1, they look just like the onew here only itty bitty.  We found streets that anything bigger than a cj 3 would rub on both walls.  Cool place, great wine, great food, great time.

I'll post some photos if you guys want to see some, let me know.
