Air cleaner is finished except for decal.

While I was ordering the Donaldson decal, I decided to order the Fram decals and repaint the oil filter.

Finished up the turn signal controller, works much better and looks good.

Also went by the body shop and he is open again and is working on my tub, hopes to have it in paint by the end of the week. Trying not to get my hopes up!

Thanks! Right now we are just trying to stay healthy and stay away from people. I feel sure I will get my body tub and parts back after this is all over.
Trying to stay busy, stripped and painted the air cleaner assembly, new Donaldson decal is on order.

Also decided I needed to clean and paint the Sparton turn signal controller, it was pretty rough. Easy to take apart.

The housing got sand blasted, primed and painted, all the internal parts were carefully cleaned and re-greased. Paint should be dry tomorrow and I can put it all back together.

I went through my three tubs of parts and looks like the turn signal unit was the last thing that needed to be cleaned and painted, so I am about out of work.

I tried to pick up my stuff today, but the shop is locked and the guy is not answering his phone. I will just keep waiting, I guess. I don't know what I will do about the rotisserie.

Well, looks like the body shop guy has let me down (again). It has been 7 months, with little progress since Christmas, and the fellow that I borrowed the rotisserie from now wants it back. I plan to go next Tuesday and pick up all my body parts and all the paint I bought and bring it home. With things the way they are right now, I'd like to get everything back to my shop so it will at least be in one place in case anything happens to me. Maybe later this year, if I survive the coronavirus pandemic, I may try to paint it myself. This will be the last post to my rebuild thread for some time. Good luck, everyone and stay safe.

We'll see. Won't be able to put oil back in the box until the body tub goes back on, hope by the end of the month.

I went ahead and pulled the cover this morning, and I am glad I did, pretty nasty inside.

Spent some time with some brake cleaner and a brush, I think I got all the old gunk out.

Now trying to decide on GL-4 or Corn Head Grease.

Tonight, I decided to drain, flush and refill the steering box on my 1964 CJ3B before I put the body back on. According to my Service Manual, the box should have MIL-L-2105B SAE 80 oil. What I drained out was more like molasses, it would barely flow! I pulled the bottom front bolt from the cover and the pipe plug and left it to drain over night. I actually had to pour some parts cleaner solution into the fill hole before it would even start to flow. In my other two jeeps, a 1952 M38 and a 1954 CJ3B, I have had good luck using John Deere Corn Head Grease in the steering boxes. At this point, I think I will go ahead and remove the cover so I can properly clean the inside of the box.  Just wondering what the general thought is on steering box lubrication.

In Alabama, if you register the vehicle as a Vintage Vehicle and have the Vintage Vehicle plate, you are allowed to display an original year of manufacturer plate on the vehicle. The issued Vintage Vehicle plate must be with the vehicle, but you don't need to display it. I could not find an antique plate like I wanted, so I had one made:

I've never had a problem and, although I carry the Vintage Vehicle plate in the tool box, I have never been asked to show it.

Just as a follow-up, I just purchased a 2-1/4"reproduction steering wheel from Walck's and it DOES have the groove for the horn button! I will also say that it is much better quality than the first one I bought off of e-bay a few years ago, the rim is much smoother and there are no bubbles and flash. I guess it's true, you get what you pay for!

I am looking for photos of the dealer name stickers that were placed on the rear of Jeeps. I know it's a long shot, but specifically, I am looking for a photo for Rex Keeling who was the Jeep Dealer in Gadsden, Alabama up until the late 60's. The only thing I have found so far is a chrome emblem that they put on the Plymouth cars that they also sold, but I don't remember seeing these on any of the Jeeps on their lot when I was a kid (long time ago!)
