EVERYTHING ELSE, General tips / battery group size and how many cca

so this topic im sure has been beat to death but there is still no real answer that i have come across, when switching to a 12v battery what group size is the most correct fitting for the battery hold downs as there are a couple different sizes for our jeeps that may fit and i currently have a cj3a battery tray and i plan on using the willys mb battery hold down because it allows for a bigger battery and a 36r battery seems to fit darn near exact and thus brings up the next topic of how much cold cranking amps are needed to crank a 6v starter using 12v in say 20 degree avg temps because it seems the 36r only comes with 650cca

so ive been thinking alot about car insurance and when that time comes to register my 1950 cj3a for road legal use and seeing as i live in Massachusetts car insurance is a nightmare most of the time and im not quite sure who would be the best and cheapest to go with and above all else who would insure the jeep being that im 30 and never had insurance and the jeep turning 70 in 2020 etc is there anyone from mass that has jeep insurance?

Engine compartment / l134 fuel choices/performance

so i got to thinkin and was wondering if there is any real noticeable improvements to our l134 engines (more hp, better mpg etc) when using lower or higher octane fuels and whether or not the additives in the higher octane fuel helps any with our classic engines and if anyone has done any sort of testing id love to see it

Electrical Systems / 12v setup for cheap?

so im gonna be buying a new harness for ma jeep and its currently 6v which is fine but i want to run modern stuff like radios etc so my main questions is do i need a new starter cause id really like to keep using the foot start ability and do i need to buy the 330 dollar willys alternator kit or can i just go to the junkyard and pull a ford alternator etc and will any 12v regulator work

so i need help with figuring out this fuel pump and would m38 fuel lines hook up to it if im going to be using an m38 fuel tank also whats the thingy behind the exhaust pipe and does it need to ever be attended to and what the line coming from the bottom of the engine block the line from the manifold is for the wipers

so im having a tricky time trying to wrap my head around what i should do

ok so i started out buying a 1950 cj3a for 500 bucks (awesome) i rented a truck and trailer and towed her home and then spent a couple hundred bucks to get her running again and she runs nice so my next step was to take her apart to the frame and so i bought an m38 tub with no floor/hood/windshield/tailgate for 700 in my attempt to convert my 3a to an m38 look alike so far so good so today i took the windshield off and broke bolts etc but then i got to the fenders and based on the condition there in id be better off getting new ones as my skill level isnt good enough to fix them however the price of new fenders is stupid high and i still had a floor to put in plus other pieces that need replacing on the tub and possibly pay someone to weld and fix the tub so that sparked my thinking of why bother with this when i can spend a bit more (3500) for a whole new tub/kit and not have worry about rust or have to do anything to it except paint it cool im in the right direction of making it easy or so i thought my father starts to tell me that i shouldve just bought an m38 jeep so i told him there was none available for the price i got this 3a for and so i then began to remember that i saw a couple of m38's for sale in the 5k-6k price range and they need minimal to moderate work much less than what mine would need and is a true m38 not a conversion and so here i am trying to figure out the direction to go in as 6k would take some considerable time to save up and then id also have to sell my 3a to make room for the m38 or do i buy the 3500 dollar tub/kit and continue the conversion

has anyone ever used brad penn oils (penn grade 1) the mechanic that works on my dads ford truck told me about it after i told him i bought a cj3a and said it has a very high zinc content and so on and so thats most likely what im going to feed my engine after doing a oil change and then eventually the gears in the tranny and transfer case and axles

so the other day i took off my pcv valve and tubes and cup to clean them and holy hell was it covered with oily goopy sludge and that got me to thinkin that if i got sludge on the pcv stuff what would my oil pan and oil filter pickup be like as im not ready to tackle dropping the pan i was wondering what product is there that i could add to the oil and well anywhere else really to help breakdown the sludge something strong would be best

so with recently draining my battery trying to get it going i looked into a 6v car battery charger and so i bought 1 from harbor freight and it charged great at 4amps except that it took forever on my battery im not sure of the capacity of our battery's but mine is a super fleet with 640 cca but my charger aside i would like something that chargers faster but i dont know all that capacity amp talk lol any recommendations

i already know the correct paint for the body and such but what about other components like the fan blade or oil bathe air cleaner or the regulator etc i though about picking up a can of gloss but maybe semi gloss would be better?
