EVERYTHING ELSE, General tips / Lug nut opening - Overtightened
« on: June 10, 2020, 11:04:52 AM »
So previously to my owning them the rim was over-tightened due to the left hand thread. The rim now has the nut opening larger than it should be. I thought at one time I found a page showing someones repair for this but can no longer find it. Does anyone know of a website showing how to repair this type of problem?

Thank you in advance.

I recently pulled out my Harrison heater and am eventually going to restore. Here are some of my questions. If anyone has any questions please feel free to add to this thread.

[list bull-blackball]
  • Does anyone know the original paint color for the heaters?
[list bull-blackball]
  • Did they come in more than one color?

  • Does anyone know of a location to buy parts if I need to? (hoping all is good but never know...)

Engine compartment / Exhaust Manifold Studs
« on: June 10, 2019, 12:59:00 PM »
Hey all,
I am looking for some input on the best way to remove/replace exhaust manifold studs like the ones in the link below.

https://www.kaiserwillys.com/exhaust-manifold-to-block-stud-kit-8-piece-fits-41-71-jeep-willys-with-4-134-engine

I ask because when trying to remove the studs this weekend I had most of them break on me :( >:(

I am hoping that maybe I can use some heat (torch) and tap them with a hammer to break them loose in order to replace them.

Does anyone else have any great ideas for how to remove broken off studs?

BODY and trim / Body Work - Rust Removal
« on: May 02, 2018, 02:14:44 PM »
Hello all,

I am working on cleaning up my Jeep and a Bantam Trailer. I have some parts with enough rust that I will have to remove the section and have something welded in and then other areas that it is just surface rust. I am looking for some input on what people find is the best way to remove rust and get the metal ready for a painting.

Here are some things I have read/tools to use.
- Wire Brush
- Flap Disc
- Grinding Wheel
- Sand Blasting
- Rust Converter

Is there any I am missing that would make my life easier?

Also when preparing the metal what order should I do?
- Brush, sand, convert
- Convert, sand, ???

Thanks!

Hello all,

I recently went and picked up a Jeep and bantam trailer from my parents place and am starting the teardown process. Any pointers are welcome. I haven't had a chance to look over all the pages yet, but am looking forward to going through them!
