Engine compartment / CJV35/U Oil Filter Housing Help
« on: February 22, 2018, 12:24:11 PM »
I have 3 CJV35/U jeeps i am working on. These of course were CJ3A's modified for the Marines in 1950. I have determined that the oil filter would have been a civilian filter housing using a C3 canister not a military housing. I have also concluded that the housing could be Purolator or Fram with the Fram being more common. The issue i am having is identifying the difference between the Fram and the Purolator and trying to find the correct decals for the housing, Looking for pictures of the two different correct CJ3A civilian filter housings. I have searched the web till my fingers hurt but cannot find definitive pictures or answers. It seems to be a confusing issue for some reason.

This is good info. I recently found out i had my strap routed incorrectly and the military picture is perfect to get it right.

I don't post here much but i would be willing to chip in to keep the site independent. I also pay fees to be on sites such as pirate 4xe and the AZ Virtual Jeep club. They have options for one time lifetime memberships. You could do that with the original people that help to buy it then look into a nominal fee for others if they want to post and see classifieds etc.

I just found this Thread, i have a partially restored V35. Most of my knowledge came from Bob W. I doubt i can add much, but as you get farther along, i would be glad to try. There are some of the more rare parts that are being planned to be duplicated. But these are more related to the radio gear that is almost always missing. If there is anything you need don't hesitate to ask. h8pvmnt@hotmail.com

I can't see any reason this would be a bad thing, the more info in one place the better.
