Rut Ro, coolant in the intake manifold. Head Gasket?? Cracked knuckle.
Also, is the oil filter suppose to be that small? I replaced it and the new one is smaller than the old one.

The yokes are off for re-sleeving and it looks like ill need new front brakes. Im thinking of converting the front to 11 inch drums and putting a 1 inch cylinder on the back 9 inch drum. Thought?

Doing some fluid changes today. The diff looks in good shape, just needs a wash. Any tips on cleaning out the diff? The pinion has a pretty good groove in it so I will re-sleeve it.

A brown box showed up today! I pulled a late nighter and finished the fuel pump and carb. Now for the big test on the engine.

Are those passageway rivets easy to reinstall. To remove them do you just drill them out?

It is an early CJ-3A with some CJ-2A parts. The windscreen and the Diffs are from a 2A, not sure about the rest. I ordered a puller for the brake drums and got them off today for inspection. The drums and pads are almost new. I ordered a rebuild kit for just the cylinders. The carb is all apart and just needs a cleaning. Next I will have to turn a box of parts back into a working carb!

Just wanted to post my new project a 1949 CJ-3A. It is in really good shape and just needs a little TLC. The goal of the project is to get it reliably running by this spring and worry about any cosmetics later. First project is rebuild the Carter WO carb, fuel pump, and brakes. It has spent most of its life in the Midwest and has been in the family since new. My Aunt and Uncle were SO gracious to let me be the next caretaker of this piece of history. It took a 1000 mile journey from Illinois to Colorado during a -15' cold snap, that was an adventure in itself. Hope you enjoy the build.
