Odd fires are hard to find these days and i have heard that the even fires are usable.  Not concerned with mods.  Already have new disc brakes and steering boxes and all ready to go for it.  I have the adapters for the transmission for multiple engines.  My 134 is ready to go but i don't want to run it.  Also have a full machine here at the house so pretty much anything is possible on this jeep.  The frame still looks like new.  It is an original idaho jeep so zero rust.  If I wind using one of my sbc engines I might just build a 2x4 tube frame.  I have plenty of tools to do whatever I want to.  The tub has been completed already.  Tub looked great until I was stripping a quarter inch of bondo off the tub.  Love people who fix dents with a tub of bondo.  The 3a is on hold until spring since I am rewiring a 58 f100 at the moment.  New daily driver once it is done.

Good morning all,

I am looking for a new motor for my 3a and I have zero idea what years are good years.  I want carbed and non supercharged.  What years and models should I be looking for.  I am friends with a local wrecking yard owner and he said I can pull whatever I want for free so any help would be awesome.  The 3a is in the process of getting a frame up freshen up.  Not going to be a show rig by any means.  It will be my hunting rig/daily driver.

Thanks
Glen

Chassis, brakes and suspension. / saginaw box

All,

I know I am asking a question that has been asked asked a bazillion times but here we go.  So I am not a purist.  I am putting saginaw steering in both of my jeeps.  What is a good manual box to use?  I know the Ross boxes are good but I am changing them.  I keep seeing forums saying the 525 box is the way to go.  How about a manual box out of an s10?  I am going to scavenge the wrecking yards for boxes soon and I would like an idea what type of box from what vehicle I should look for.  I will be mounting it outside of the grill.  I am open to options on what to run.  Sorry I am not a purist but I want the steering manual but something where when my kids are driving them when I am worm food they will have good safe steering.  Thanks again for any ideas you can give me.

Your Modified 3A Project / flathead v8 motor mounts

Good evening all,

When one of you who have done a ford flathead v8 swap what kind of motor mounts did you make?  I am actually putting this in my 2a and my original L134 in my 3a.   Am using the original t90 using the offy 5825.  Can one of you take some pictures to give me an idea.  Going to use an aluminum radiator with electric fan and adding a saginaw box.

Good morning all,

Thanks for the add.  I am new to the 3a world but very well versed in the 2a's.  Not much difference.  Currently semi restoring my grandfather's 2a and just picked up a 50 3a. I am working on a deal on my other grandfather's 3a.  None of my 10 vehicles are show vehicles.  I use them all.  I am also going to be working on a 1958 ford f100. I am playing the motor swap game.  My 2a is getting a 47 flathead v8.  The 50 3a will probably get one of my 272 y-blocks.  I have a sbc that would fit nicely but everyone does that and I like odd engines.  Planning on divorced transfer cases in both jeeps unless I can get my hands on the right transmissions.  I have a transmission for my flathead and I am going to see if I can adapt it.  I am a machinist and welder by trade so I think I can make some adapters.  OK well I am still healing from foot surgery so back to relaxing.  Thanks again for the add.  Glen
