Your CJ-3A Project / Re: 1950's CJ3A "Crispy"
« on: May 05, 2017, 06:21:20 AM »
Hi guys,

thanks for the replies !

athawk11, yes thank you for pointing out the tab. I was so focused on the bend that i missed the tab.  ::)

Also, in my photo the white/ black grill is from my jeep. According to Bob's book i would date my cj3a to April 1950. Therefore it has the radiator attached to the grill.

The second grill in my photo is (i guess) an earlier CJ3a grill with the radiator attached to the chassis (similar to MB).
So i think it could be a later modification to the grill ... maybe someone with a late cj can have a look under the grill to be sure ... otherwise 'the bend' will meet 'the hammer'  ;D

Thanks,
Glenn

The previous owner has also been a little creative with the dash ..

My first question is the following : On the inside of the bottom of the grill the edge is bent. Is this original ? Should i leave it as is or should i straighten it ?

Thanks,
Glenn

Hi, as said in my introduction, last year I finally got the chance to buy a CJ3a .. but the overall condition was very poor. It didn't have an engine, no panel was straight and there was rust everywhere ..

A picture of the rear floor, hence the name 'Crispy' ..

Last weekend i finally started deconstruction .. every bolt was seized and snapped right off .. further pictures still to come ..

Once You've Joined / Hi from 'Flanders'

Hi, I'm Glenn from 'Flanders' in Belgium. Already a long time Willys fan, which started approx. 30 years ago with a '45 MB, I finally got the chance to buy a CJ3a last year ..
Other vehicles in the stable are a Jeepster (which I promised my wife to restore simultaneously with the 3a  :-?), a Stationwagen and a GPA ...

Attached is a picture from my 3a as it came from the States last year.

I'll start a restoration topic in the 'Stock 3a' section, because i have a lot of questions  .. ;)
