Thanks to all who responded. Thanks for taking time out of your day! I'm learning a lot as I go hopefully I can return the favor.

Anyone have any tricks to remove the Bushings that thread Externally into the frame bracket and internally to the C shackle itself? I think  they all are RH thread threading into the frame bracket ( which needs to be unthreaded first to remove the shackle ) I believe the front drivers side and the rear passenger side LOWER Shackle is LH thread on some of the older models and I heard the LH ones have a grove cut at the hex head. Are the upper ones  all RH ????

Thanks. I found a website Tom Woods custom driveshafts which will manufacture any drive shaft to whatever spec cheaper than extending the originals. Thanks again all who have responded!!!!

Thankyou all for your time! it looks like I need to extend them or does anyone know if maybe a cj5 shaft is longer and I could just swap drive shafts?

Can anyone give me some insight on this issue? I'm rebuilding a 3A and I found front and rear axles out of a 3B which I assume should be fine. I rebuilt both of them and put in lockright lockers in both. I bought new springs fom superlift 2.5 inch lift. when I attempted to connect the drive shafts they are about a 1/2 inch short and the front shaft contacts the skid plate and won't allow it to be connected unless I trim the skid plate. keep in mind the jeep is on blocks and the springs are just hanging there with no load on them and I could probably connect them if I put the jeep weight on them. I thought about extending the drive shafts but the shop wants ~ 300 bucks for each shaft. Also the tie rods are extended almost all the way out to get the toe in close. What should I do to get it right? I have a hard time believing 2.5 inch causes all these issues.

I wonder if it was the shim or the clutch hub assembly that fixed it? also where did the shim go and how much free play and in what direction is too much? I wouldn't mind talking to you about what  I have. My cell is 413-441-2944 Thanks Bruce G. After 6 pm EST Again Thank you all for responding!!

How does the synchro make it pop out of gear? I thought its job was to slow up or speed up the gear you are going to  like a clutch? By the way I'm not second guessing you just trying to understand the principles!

I'm going to rebuild it anyways and there is a good youtube video from Schnitzlehaus Which Novak has something to do with because he promotes the Novak master rebuild kit. Its less complicated when you see it being put together than reading it in the service manual. I think its based on Ricks rebuild? In any case it does pop out of second. Can't imagine its the synchros maybe a worn second gear? the rebuild kit comes with a new second gear. Any Ideas???

Hello,
I'm a new member from western Ma. Currently I have a 1952 running CJ-3A.Well it was running until a pulled out axles, springs, brake lines, well you get the picture. I also have a 52 3A rolling chassis, and I guess an extra set of axles. I  want to get my running jeep back on the road soon but I keep going backwords every time I take something apart. I'm sure you've been there. Once I figure out how to use this site I'd love to pick some of your brains. I'm finding out there really isn't many REAL mechanics anymore due to I get different answers for the the same questions by many professional mechs. Even the parts I buy,  usually from Kaiser willys because they do have a great website, seem cheap compared to the parts I remove, Im not slamming Kaiser willys I think its most of the aftermarket parts. For example look at the front inner axle seal you get compared to the one you removed. The new ones looks super jankey and  is .020" larger OD. Doesn't seem like ill get it in. well, I do look forward to bonding with other Willys freeks....Sorry!     Respectively BruceG
