"Modifications"-- Technical Questions, Answers, Incites / Rear bumper with reciever

I decided to fabricate a bumper for the cj3a. I wanted something with some girth to it and to have the 2 in receiver tube. This is what I whipped up at work. I still plan to put some shackle ears on it and the paint on it will match what we paint the bumper.  No modifications were made to the frame and if down the road I want to go back to the original type bumper I can easily.  Has anyone else made anything like this?

I plan on taking off the home made top and getting her running. It has a N series ford engine in her and parts are easy to come by. Once I get her at that point we are going to decide what we are going to do with it. As of now we have the 51 3b torn apart and a 60 cj5 needing some love.

Yes 4 wheel steering. It does have 4wd. The guy says it ran 3 years ago. He used it for Ice fishing. That is the reason there is a big home made hard top on it.

That is a Ford GP.� That's actually a pretty special find.� Just a bit over 4400 were made.

PS... Does it have 4 wheel steering?

It does not have 4 wheel drive but I did notice on the steering arm off the gear box there is spots for other rods to be bolted up

OK I am pretty sure it is a 41 ford gp. It has a home made top and seats are missing but it is complete other wise. This is the markings on the side of the carb.

I spent enough time with it to load it and get it to our property. I plan on going through it this weekend and try to take pics of the major components to help further identify.

Picked this up for scrap price.� Guy says he has title somewhere. I am trying to figure out what I have. From what I can make out on data plate the serial number say 536.� I am going to try to clean the id tags to get a better Idea.� Magnito has ford markings on it and there is a coil under the hood that has ford markings. It is in way better shape than the 60 cj5 I got.

oh and we tried to rebuild the engine but two of the cylinders are cracked. So instead of spending like 2500 on fixing it we are getting a different one.

We are keeping it all around. Like you all are saying just incase we need it for something. Trust me it is in rough shape though.

So this story started May of 2008. My father and I spotted this gem in the woods at a old resort. The ole girl actually had a small sapling growing in the back of her.  From what we can gather it was originally a snow plow truck at the Milwaukee airport.  The owners that had it before us purchased it in the 80's.  We did get the plow with the jeep. It was it a old v plow. The plow has since been attached to a bobcat attachment and sold.  Christmas day we un-tarped her and put her in the shop. My father is a retired farmer and once he starts he is unstoppable. We have completely disassembled it and took the engine to shop to get it tuned up. Unfortunatly it has two bad cylinders. The tub was beyond repair so we ordered a new one. I work at a fabrication shop so I have blasted the frame and made new bumpers. I am sure I will be making all kinds of things for it. Here are some pics of when we found her. dad has all the disassembly pics I will post when I can get ahold of them.

thanks Ryan!   I will be posting pics soon. Jeep is in pieces right now. Motor is in shop with two bad cylinders. Have a line on a different one though.

My father and I are doing a frame up restore of a 50 3a. I love talking to others who have done this to get some pointers and help when needed. Thanks for allowing me to join and hope to learn tons from yall!
