Who do you use for parts?

I use http://walcks4wd.com most if the time. I find that it's a lot simpler to call than use the online store. Also they seem to have a reasonable selection of used parts.

I'm looking and getting some body parts to do a bit of patching. I was thinking they would have a good selection.

Novak has a very good rebuild kit for the T90. I used one I there kits on my CJ and it was very nice and the instructions they send are very good.

Ok. I am taking a lot of notes on this. Some major body work as well as some front floors and needed on my Heep also.

Is it simpler to do this floor work with the tub on the Frame or is it simpler to remove the tub and then put it all back together?

I made a linkage adjustment to the starter and it worked fine all weekend. Every once and a while it would grind but it worked a lot better. I'll get it a new starter gear just to be on the safe side.

Test results from this weekend reveal that it's having trouble starting when cold. It would have fire and gas but not want to start up. Two mornings I had to give it a small sniff of carburetor cleaner to fire up. After that it would run fine all day. I'm thinking a new set of plugs should help out.

Also it was spilling oil out of the air breather after some of the rougher roads. Is this normal?

All in all everything went very well. It looks like I will be ready to start on some of the body work after a few changes.

I took it out to the race this weekend. (I help run an off-road racing series) so fare it is working better than it ever has.

This picture makes me reailize that the Willys Jeep is the original side by side.  ;D

Next on the list if things to do is the starter. The starter is not wanting to engage properly all of the time. Sometimes you push the starter pedal and it just grinds. If you wiggle it around and push it you get a perfect start. I think the end of the starter is warn out.

Everything else looked good





So after cleaning everything up I started to put it back together.

The ring and pinion had been ridding a little low on the tooth but the gears where still in very good shape so I re used them. I did install all new bearings and gave it a proper gear set up. Then after tackling the outer bearings it was time to re install the axle.

I am super happy with how it all turned out. It all works so very well. It drives and shifts like it never has before.

Ok. This passed weekend I completed the tranny install and started putting the drive line back together. I found the pinion loose on the rear axle so I yanked it iut and took it apart.




Everything was loose inside. It looked like the carrier bearings had spun a little as well.

The tranny and transfer case are now complete. They are painted and put together ready to go back in. I took my time with it and I am sure that it's going to work like it should. I'll put up a picture of the assembly when I rember to take one.


I had a leak on the rear main seal of the motor so there is no better time than now to take care of that. I pulled the pan after ordering a new seal kit from Walcks. I was able to get the new seal in with no huge problems but now I am left with a question. There is two rubber pins that go in on eather side of the rear main cap. The new ones that where in the kit are to long. Do I cut them flush or mash them in with the oil pan. I measured the hole that they go in and it looks to be about 1/2" longer

I was able to find some time to jump back into this project for a bit. I got the tranny and transfer case housing both cleaned and painted. I also gave the gears a good inspection and started putting things back together.
