A replacement head.  Seems that most of these Jeeps are not completely original as to the parts they came off the assembly line with.

I carry a bottle jack, a high lift jack and a shovel.  Many times it is better to dig out to fit the spare on than to raise the Jeep higher.

Looks like a good place to start.  Could have an after market body as there are CJ2a top bow pockets above the rear wheel.  I think you will have fun with this Jeep.  We all like pictures.

The front plate would need to be changed.  The motor mount tabs on the 2a face to the rear.  The left motor mount tab on the 3a faces to the front.  The change was made to fit in a different fuel pump.  The frame part of the motor mount on the 3a was moved forward on the left side.  It is riveted to the frame.  There are some differences between early and late L head engines.  The left mount would be the only problem.

I would think so.  The early spedos were the same size and had the same cable hook ups.

My '52 M38 came to me with out an engine,battery tray or battery.  It had the stud on the finder so when I put a battery tray and a 12V battery on it I bent some strap to go from the J bolts to the stud.  Painted the straps and they hold things in place.  Not worried about things being correct or original on this Jeep just want it to bring me home when I go out on the trails.

Is that for watering your yard, garden or trees?  Looked like enough pressure for washing Jeeps or driveways.

Our 64 CJ5 had the pockets for the top bows on the out side corners when it came to us.  I removed them to put aluminum diamond plate corners on.  It had a steel half cab on it at that time.  I do not think this will help you identify your body.  But Jeep bodies still had the pockets in '64.
The book "The Civilian Jeep Model CJ-3A"  By Bob Westerman would be a good source of information for you.
