I cannot find any real specs for the alignment for my 49 CJ3A. except toe in of 3/64"-3/32. Anybody have anything above and beyond this?

I am having a devil of a time finding doors frames for my M38. I was wondering if someone out there could trace a left and right door frame on a large piece of paper and send it to me so I could maybe make my own. i some one would do this let me know and I will give you my address. Much thanks.

How much oil should I put into the transmission and transfer case?
Manual says 3 1/2 pts, is that in each for a total of 7 pts? Or total for both?

I am replacing the clutch Parts and am trying to find the torque specs for the pressure plate bolts, nothing seems to have them listed. any help out there?

OK, I guess the HI/LOW lever was not fully engaged. I pulled it all the way baack with the clutch pushed in, the TC lever all the way forward and LO and behold, it works. I always thought both of the TC levers had to be disengaged and that they were for the front wheel drive only. Well you learn something new everyday and you can teach an old dog new tricks. Again, thanks all, I'm so glad you'll are out there for us novices.

Did not take apart either, I did however take the shift tower off the trans. but I pretty sure I got it back on right since I could shift through the gears while driving it w/front wheel drive only. I really think I didn't have the TC engaged correctly. I will find out tomorrow when I get time to work on it. I'll let everyone tomorrow. thanks all.

No,  tried it with the rear tires off the ground. I can turn the tires by hand if not in gear. But if in gear I can't turn by hand. I have to check on the transfer case engaged. I thought you only engaged TC if using 4x4. So to drive in 2 wheel drive I have to have the TC lever in H or L? But the front wheel lever in N?

Alright, got the trans and transfer case back in after replacing the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Everything went together fine, adjusted clutch within spec. now the trans won't make the wheels go round. I can shift gears but even with the rear wheels off the ground nothing happens. I can see the pressure plate spinning, the disk is spinning, in gear (reverse or first) but no power to the rear wheels. I can engage the transfer case and get power to the front but nothing to the rear. Any Ideas out there? I am totally stumped.

Cold, I pull the choke and turn the key. the engine tries to start then gas starts blowing back out the carb.  Also as a side note, I have NO spacer on the fuel pump.
Hot, turn the key.

I have a 1949 CJ3A with the L134 and a new Solex carb. When I go to start it I get gas filling the intake manifold and blowing out the Carb and will not start. I have a fuel regulator set at 1.5 but that makes no difference. The carb has been rebuilt and checked. Any suggestions?

Bought a 1949 CJ3A Rust bucket with a rebuilt engine. Took it down to the frame and back together. when I went to put on the plug wires and start it I found out the thing won't run with the #1 wire on the #1 plug. After much experimentation, my #1 plug wire works on what should be the#4 distributor port, so my #1 is on #4, #3 is where the #1 should be, #4 is at #3 and 2 is at#4. So the timing is right 1,3,4,2 CCW, just in the wrong place. Any suggestions on what is wrong and how to fix it? By the way, it runs fine like this, just want it right.
