I thought the chevy v6 convertion into my1951 cj3a was going to be fairly straight on by useing parts from one source.I used Advance Adapter motor mounts and headers. The left header has much clearance of frame, right side none and also hits body mount.I took the trans.crossmember bolts out and motor mount bolts out and moved it all to the right.the header would bolt up and clear the frame but the trans. crossmember boltholes stuck outside the frame on the right and the holes and end of the crossmember were inside the frame on the left.I can go back so the crossmember bolts work but can't use my headers.I guess I could take a hammer and beat the header tube until it clears or cut a notch in the frame and weld metal back in.I really don't want to do either.Has anyone had this problem and how did you cure it.18in.of snow outside and wishing I had a solution. Please help  :( :( :(

Hey guys, just made the trip from the old page, couldn't have made it without help from our grat monitors.Well I finally got started on my cj3a project after three years.I got  my frame in the garage yesterday.I have a 3.8 L, 229ci v6 to put in it.When I bought it it had a 235 straight 6 in it .They had moved the grill forward about 8in. to clear the long motor.Looked like crap. They added about 6in to the frame at the rear of front spring and welded the spring hanger on to clear the motor over the front diff.(not real good)bY.By putting in thev6 I will gain the three cyl.space :-/.They already have an advavced adapter on and it fits the v6.Right now I am trying to find asset of headers to fit, plenty for buick3.8 or 4.3 Does anybody have an idea?   :-/

hello from Wet Virginia, sorry i haven't been here lately but now i'm retired, quit, checked out ,gone from work so now more important thinks are possible.I have a '53cj3a Willys ready to be reborn with the help of my two little grandsons. It has a straight 6 chevy engine in it now but I have a v6 out of a '89 el camino to replace it.Someone had already put11 inch brakes on but all that's useable are the drums.Shoes, springs  and lines are trash.I have owned two '48s,a56,a'75,a'96 and now this ol' buggy.I 'll try to post pictures.
