I don't know if Willys used seam sealer, but before I painted my new tub I used it every where I could , just to prevent any problems down the road.

ok guys,  i've got the tranny bolted to the transfer case and its up under the jeep. I have the tip of the main input shaft started in the splined hole of the flywheel.  My question is,  is there a secrete or trick in installing the control lever for the clutch release bearing?  I've tried once only to drop it in the bottom of the bell housing.  I'm hoping I don't have to remove the bell housing to do this.
Thanks again for all the great help....

Hey guys, hope your new year is going great.  I have a question I want to throw out there.  I just finished my transmission rebuild and I'm ready to reinstall it.  I removed the tranny and transfer case as one unit so should it go back the same or is it easier to install the tranny first and then install the transfer case.
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

"Original"-- Technical Questions, Answers, Observations / oil pan
« on: December 06, 2015, 02:03:23 PM »
hey guys, got a problem I could use some advice on. awhile back my oil pan was leaking between the pan and skid plate at the spot welds. I removed the skid plate and epoxied the spots inside and out. this worked for about a year but now the epoxy is peeling away on the outside and its leaking again. my question is, should I try and weld the spots or does anyone know of a good sealer that will hold.  secondly I'm planning on rebuilding my tranny this winter because of the second gear chatter and was wondering if the tranny removal is easier with the oil pan off like it is now?  thanks for all replays. :)

yes,  the pictures are a great help. i'm assuming the shut off valve is to turn off the heat in the summer?  I got the heater apart and to plan on pressure testing the core, but the fan looks to be shot. plus 2 of the 4 fan blades are broke off so I've got some work to do before this ever gets installed.  Thanks for all info and comments.

I just used a small hobby brush, one like you would paint small model cars or jeeps and hand painted mine.

hey guys, i have a question i want to throw out there and see what your opinion is.  when i rebuilt my '51 awhile back i went with a new solex carb instead of trying to rebuild the carter that came on it. it seems to run ok but now im thinking of trying to rebuild the carter. i would have to buy a rebuild kit and a new float where as this float is junk. i would have alittle over $100 in doing this so my question to you guys is would you try this or stick to the solex. is the carter a far better carb. than the solex?  thanks gentlemen
