Glad you liked the pics.
Wales, located on the West side of the UK covers 8,023 sq miles (that's 5 times bigger than Blanding Utah) population 2.9 million.
That sounds really crowded doesn't it? Well if you compare it to England its not but to find a place to go off road legally, that's not so easy any more.
which is mainly down to this government and a large group of people called RAMBLERS who think they have the divine right to Roam
on all the rights of way in the UK i.e 4x4's, dirt bike and such cant.
So, many, many years ago this country was criss crossed with what's known as drover's roads which the farmer's used to take
there livestock to market .
Most of these drover's roads are over grown washed out and impassable, they go over mountains through forests and across rivers,
so unless you have a decent 4x4 i.e JEEP they are a no-go area.
These old roads can be driven legally, but if the RAMBLERS get there way the government will close them all so 4x4's and dirt bikes etc
can't use them.
The thing is the only way these old roads stay passable is because we drive them, how ironic is that?
There are designated off road sits around the UK but you have to pay to use them, $80 to $90 per day, it kind of takes the fun out of it
don't you think?
So that's the history lesson on off roading in the UK.
"Tell us about Wales" you say, I live in North Wales on the coast (Prestatyn) a seaside town, there must be 9 or 10 Castles in a 20 mile
radius of where i live.
Go inland 17 miles and you come into The Snowdonia National Park, Snowdon is the highest mountain range in Wales and England
it looks like British Columbia and Scotland, incidentally Scotland is the last wilderness in Britain.
I love Wales and my Canadian family when they visit think its fantastic.
Military Vehicles, its like the JEEP habit once you have one you are hooked, I've had one or two over the years (Bloody expensive hobby)
My Dodge WC51 built in 1942 served with the US Army 42 till 45 spent two years with the British Army till 47.
Sold to a farmer who owned it for 15 years, then spent anther 10 years as a snow plough with the local Council, then sold to a garage as
a tow truck until 2000 some one bought the old girl and restored her, then i did a straight swap with a jeep with no motor, that was in 2006.
The Diamond T 969A Wrecker I bought in 2009, she was a tow truck in a garage since 1988, before that she was in the Swiss Army since 1949 before that I don't no what she did.
So that's the story so far, I am in the middle of restoring her, hard work on your own as you can guess.
I hope that gives you some sort of insight into where i live and what i do.
