CJ3B’s never had marker lights. Marker lights are positioned near the outer front and rear corners of the body, and stay on with the headlights. CJ3B’s have Parking Lights. They are not near the outer corner, and when the headlights go on, the parking lights go off. Marker lights appeared, in most US manufacturers, in 1968, by government mandate.

You’re right, the bushing will tighten up against the shackle, not only preventing grease from entering, but also preventing the shackle/bushing from moving as they need to do. When I install new (or used) shackles I tighten the bushing until it stops and then loosen it about a wrench flat, maybe a bit more. This gives them room to work and room for grease to enter. Usually, the bushing-to-spring fit and bushing-to-bracket fit are tight enough that the bushings won’t back out. Keeping them greased helps.

Check the flat part of the aluminum neck that bolts to the block and supports the screen. They are always warped and dont fit flat on the block, resulting in an air leak. File it flat.

Rus,
I like your fuel filter installation. Much better than hose clamps. Air leaking into the “suction” side of the fuel system is one of the biggest problems we have.

I did a search on here and the internet but not much luck in finding 15x7 steel wheels.  I have three on there now and a forth will work but too rough for my taste.  I want the wider track.  Anyone have a source they can share?

I have two sets of 15”X7” wheels that I could sell. One set is a set of actual Jeep wheels, resembling the “Wagon Wheel” style as on the front in your picture, but these are factory wheels with center caps. The other set are what were once called “modular” wheels, chrome plated. If interested, I can send you some pictures.

Even though we don’t do state-required safety inspections in Colorado any more, all of the rules, regulations, and requirements are still in place and enforceable. So the parking brake must be in place and working. (Who’s really going to know?) A better system, such as Mark’s, would be acceptable. But - When your jeep rolls away and crashes into your neighbor’s living room and their lawyer discovers that you knew the parking brake doesn’t work or worse yet that you removed it, well, as Pop would say, you’ve got your tail in a crack. I can’t even imagine driving any of my jeeps without a parking brake.

OK, thanks for the report.

I have several, Northeast of Greeley, however, they are all disassembled. I’m sure we could find enough parts to make one complete, if you want to rebuild one. A friend North of Fort Collins has several complete engines, but I dont know their condition.

I didnt get a chance to measure a lever but 5.5” sounds about right. The long one is considerably longer than that.
Oil in the crossover tube and air horn is a sign that the PCV system isn’t working. Whistle on deceleration is almost certainly a vacuum leak. If your PCV system isn’t complete and working properly it could explain both problems.

Shark,
How long is the arm on your brake, from the pivot point to where the cable attaches? CJ5 and maybe some others used a longer arm that won’t work if the shorter one is corre. I believe that all of the flatfenders used the short arm. Ill get out and measure one of each here in a bit.

Do you have the correct wood blocks on the hood?  CJ2-A windshields lay flat, but it seems ive seen some CJ3A and M38 hoods higher at the front. Of course, I’ve seen some 2A windshields high at the front too. Wrong blocks.

I wired two wires per Walcks wire harness.  One for park lights and one for the blinkers.

Two wires, both soldered to the same location on a single-contact light socket?  Thats not going to work.

Grilles with the original “teeth” are pretty rare, Bubba has drilled or filed most of them out of there. Often the hole is opened up to near to or even greater than the size of the original lens retaining ring.
Soldered two wires? Where to? Only one is needed, and I think it used a bullet connector.

What you got from KW are correct for CJ2-A’s, 1947 and up. I dont know about 3A’s, I dont have one.
The socket goes into the hole in the grille from the back. The hole should have a pair of “teeth” to hold the socket, kind of a reverse version of the bayonets on the bulb. The teeth have been removed from your grille’s holes, and I suppose the holes may be oversized as well.
