I have pictures of the disassemble of the starter over on my rebuild page but unfortunately, I failed to take pictures when I did the generator. I ended up using the Dupli-color engine paint in a semi gloss black.

Thanks now just to figure out what type of paint to use. :)

Okay I have done the crazy and completely dissembled the generator and am in the process of rebuilding it and then will be moving on to the starter when I finish. Now I have hit a bit of a snag as I am working on this. What is the original color of the Auto-lite Generators? Also what type of paint do you use that can handle the heat but also will not come off if oil and water get on to the generator ( sorry it is a Jeep it will happen).
Yes pictures will come when I finish it.

I am definitely watching this thread because at this point for me the only save able parts on my jeep are the dash, the cowl, and the grill. At least of the body parts, really love 60 Years of road salt and what it does to a vehicle.

By the way Willys Overland is having a sale on tubs and kits till January 31st only need to come up with 3500 or more for a kit. :0

Ran across this on craigslist do you guys think it would be able to just be bolted in or not on a cj3a?

I know this is a little late on the subject but that second tank is off an M38a1, seen in the jeep a little while ago. :) (just noticed it)

I have gone over the entire outside of the tank and it seems to be solid and it does hold gas with out loosing. (There was that one time I lost 5 gallons of lacquer thinner/Gasoline mixture over a week end. Then shortly afterwords my parents neighbor's truck and lawn mowers all had major issues. I am sure the incidents were not associated ;P. )

But I am thinking I am going to try the cleaning deal and worse case for me I chalk it up for lessons learned and buy a new tank.

Also If any one does have any more suggestions let me know. I figure it never hurts to learn what others have tried and failed on.
I will also try to get some pictures up of the gas tank and what I am dealing with if I can. Also a question are these tanks supposed to have baffles going side to side on the tank?

How do you get the fuel tank cleaned? My 52 sat for about 20 years total with old gas in it and it also now has some flaky junk in the tank as well.
Just trying to determine what it takes to get it cleaned.

As long as it is a L134 I would be very interested.

I am in Michigan, that is the biggest part of the problem seeing that with out personally being able to look at it, I am making a $400 gamble.

Looks like I am going to have to pass on this one. Based on what you guys are saying I just can not take the risk with out looking at it my self.

But for reference sake here are some more Pictures he sent me.

Not sure on the timing belt I do know it does turn over supposedly. I was wondering if any one could tell anything from the Serial number.  :-?

Looking into purchasing this engine from the guy with it New Jersey and was wondering what you guys can tell me from these pictures and what Pictures I should be having him send me.
Already figured out shipping and all that now just making sure it is worth my time and money to purshase. Figured and extra engine and spare parts can not hurt. :)

Here are the pictures he sent me. What I see is what I get.
