Yes, you can also use a stock column with the worm cut off.  Requires adding a lower bushing or bearing and then the u-joint on the end.  Advance Adapters should have details on their tech site but you can probably source the parts cheaper elsewhere.

I used Rustoleum (with hardener added) on a jeep, turned out very well.  For my current project I was thinking of maybe the dark green with the beige/ivory wheels and lettering, but I thought the Rustoleum green seemed a little light.  Another option is the Tractor Supply paint, they even sell a hardener to go with it.  Oliver green....  http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/majicreg%3B-town--country-tractor-truck--implement-1-gal-oliver-green

There were knock-outs in place if you didn't order a top with it. I suspect that this jeep had a factory installed top because the bolts for the door risers are still there and they are marked TR like all the other original bolts on the jeep.

Could have been a half cab from the factory and the tailgate loops added later?

I think your options are to either send it back or bend the arms to get it centered.
I'd bolt it on and lay it down on the hood blocks.  Either push or pull on it the way it needs to go, stand it up and check alignment.  Repeat as needed.  Having a helper may be useful.

Thank you gentleman.

I'm sort of building a jeep from parts and was wondering what the distance is from the steering wheel to the floor on a stock CJ3A, the angled section where the column and pedals are. I'm adding saginaw power steering so I can position the column where ever I want but wanted the stock measurement as a reference point. Thanks.

It's not to hard to modify the 5 frame to get the crossmember back under the body.  As stated above you really don't notice the extra length up front.  I've done two flatfenders now with CJ5 chassis.  Both of the ones I did used 1970 CJ5 chassis so I also picked up the dual circuit master cylinder as a bonus.

If you don't already have a frame/chassis I'd look for a factory V6 CJ5 chassis.  It'll have the engine mounts, longer springs, and a 19 spline dana 44.

Questions for anyone with an original style top.  I've got a new Beachwood half cab canvas top that I'm trying to fit to my jeep.  I'm making the bow set for this.  Looking at SteveW's pictures the  top of the door frame is below the rod that runs from the windshield to the main bow.  Looking at Nate's write up on installing a top, his door frames are higher than the rod.  Which is correct.  On the rod from the windshield frame, how much is the offset where it connects to the windshield?  My first go at the main hoop, I think I have it to high by about 1/2" based on everything I could find but the rear panel is about 1" above the wheelhouse.  Is there normally a gap there?  That's all for now.  Thanks.
