Your CJ-3A Project / Re: CJ3A Buying Questions - First Time Willys Buyer

I went and looked at this CJ3A.  Seller seems to think that the PO bought this back in the 60s and it’s been local to SE Indiana it’s entire life.  Confirmed it’s a replacement tub on what looks like an original frame and engine.  Tub looks in great shape top and bottom, no rust dents etc.  Motor is complete and runs well but I didn’t drive it, the tires looked to be about 40 years old (at least) and didn’t want to risk it.  Frame looks like maybe it was painted at the time the new body was put on but if so the prep work was sorely lacking, lots of rust here but nothing so bad that it couldn’t be saved.   The top looks to be vintage Bestop.  The odometer says 12,xxx mi, and seller seems to think those are actual miles. Sorry but I didn’t get any additional pics. Any opinions on market value?

Thanks for the comments, just the feedback I needed.  Seller wants $15,500 for it which I'm guessing is way over the top but I've run into this before, regardless, given the observations I don't think it's what I'm interested in getting into.

Engine photo.  Not a great view but doesn't look like anything too crazy going on under there.  Looks like 12v conversion.

Hello all, first time post here.  I'm a current owner of AMC vintage CJ5 and CJ7 and now there's a 3A for sale near me that's got my interest.  I'm looking for comments from the group as to what to look for when I go see this in a few days.  The seller obtained this 1951 3A from a friend's estate and told me that it had previously been in storage for 20 years.  He got the engine running and refreshed the brakes but otherwise doesn't know a lot about what he has.  To my untrained eye it looks to have been restored/repainted at some point and there appears to be a 69+ tail gate as well as something not right about the instrument cluster (MB) and missing handbrake.  Pics below.  Thanks in advance for your advise and comment.
