How did it turn out?  I have a Ramsey winch and the U-joint that comes off the back of it was fine until I replaced the bell crank.  The replacement bell cranks don't curve up so now it hits that joint.

I decided to chisel it off and that went fine.  Standard nut behind it.

I think I know the source of the issue - when I got over to the other side I found a Lock O Matic which would have needed the round nut.  The funny(?) thing is that from what I know I don't think a Lock O Matic and a standard locking hub would play well together which may explain the stripped out inside of the L-O-Matic.  I see new hubs in my future, probably stick with the Warn Premiums.

LOL!

That should be the answer to all rigged jobs.  I heard elsewhere that it was a legit nut type used at some point but my best course of action is to remove and replace with the standard.  I was hoping for something exciting like "that's an expensive upgrade!  Lucky!"

While attempting to remove things in preparation for a disc brake upgrade (gasp!) on my '53 3B, I did not encounter what I expected (a 2.125" spindle nut).  My guesses after a lot of googling are either a PO's axle swap or a complete cob job.  Did I inherit an amazing upgrade?  What to do next?
