Engine compartment / Re: help with Identifying engine ports.
« on: February 01, 2025, 11:13:09 AM »
Thanks. I have been burning my eyes out reading and looking at pictures for years. I have found most of what I needed. The whole thing has been a bit overwhelming. This being my 1st Willys, I just had to take it one bite at a time. Somehow I missed the engine rebuild page. I rebuilt my 1st engine at 15 years old, now 60. Maybe since I didn't rebuild this engine I didn't look there. IDK. I looked back on old pictures when I had the oil pan off and the plugs are in there.

Thanks! I have some parts. The PCV "T" : I've seen where the left side of the T connects to the fuel pump, correct? I don't have a fuel pump yet so I cant look at it. I will probably make my own vacuum line out of metal fuel line. Is 10 where the upper, long flex hose from the oil filter goes? Or where does it go?

Engine compartment / help with Identifying engine ports.
« on: January 31, 2025, 08:50:17 PM »
I need help identifying these ports in the engine block. This Engine was rebuilt at a machine shop. I bought the basket case. It was a boxed frame, a used MD Juan tub, both axles and 12 boxes of parts. I have been working on it for a few years and I'm ready to finish up and get it running. I have some parts, have sourced a few used parts and need to buy the rest. I want to confirm these before ordering the last parts and putting it together.
1 I think is vacuum line.
2 I don't know.
3 I this the oil line to the head and connects to 9?
4 oil Gauge.
5 I don't know.
6 Heater hose out or a brass plug?
7 Radiator hose from top of radiator. Fluid in.
8 Radiator hose in from lower radiator.
9 metal oil line connects to 3.
10 To oil filter?
11 plug with hole for Throttle linkage spring.
12 Coolant temperature gauge port.
13 Heater hose in or a plug?
14 PCV cup. has pcv valve. Other end connects to 1?

Thanks!

I am working on a 54' 3B that has been upgraded to the 11 inch drum brakes. Do the original brake lines need to be bigger or will the stock factory lines with original master cylinder work?

Thanks! I'm just jumping into this rebuild, kind of a basket case. Those on ebay, are they the correct ones? I don't have any or pics to compare them too. Is there a bracket needed for the Brake master Cylinder? Lastly, I have a Saginaw steering set up and the original steering wheel but no steering column. Should I source that used or buy an aftermarket GM universal steering column?

Engine compartment / engine mount brackets
« on: February 10, 2022, 01:24:14 AM »
The previous owner had other plans so I'm left with no engine mount brackets on the frame, willys part #s 647919 and 647025. I can find the engine mounts but not the frame brackets. Anyone have a lead on where I can find these? 1954 3B
TIA

I've had this 1954/64 3B for over 4 years. When I retired 4 1/2 years ago as an Air traffic Controller, I bought this unfinished project from my neighbor. He had met a girl, was getting married soon and moving into her house so the Jeep had to go. I had told him I wanted it if he ever sold it. It was a 54' but the tub was mostly rotted and it didn't have a title. He had found a tub with a 1964 title and VIN plate so its now titled as a 1964. The tail gate, grill and dash were all he could save from the original body. I think the donor tub is an MD Juan. He had the original engine, transmission, T-case, and overdrive rebuilt. It has a lift and the frame boxed as well as 11" drum brakes. I believe most of the parts I need are here. It all looks to be bagged and tagged in the boxes. After retirement I bought a new house and had a shop built with a 2 post lift. No more laying on the gravel in the sun! The Jeep has been sitting for 3 years in its new home but now its time to put it together. I'm very mechanically inclined and I've worked on many different cars, trucks, and engines, but never a Jeep. I'm gonna need some advice/help please. One of my sons keeps a page on Instagram and Facebook of our shops happenings. See what were up too and follow along on the Jeep build by following us on Instagram @ cobra_ranch_garage or on facebook @ Cobra Ranch Garage. I look forward to meeting you all and getting, and maybe even giving some help/advice.
