This is local to me, near Syracuse. If you need local help, let me know. I wouldn't mind seeing this rig.

Rus,
I hadn't seen that thread so thanks very much.  The top looks exactly like mine and I think the fit is as I predicted it would be if the rollbar was straighter than mine.  Your idea of a bow should work fine as well.  I was thinking of making something out of electrical conduit in the meantime.

Missed something. There were two male screw in snaps in the box in a tiny ziploc.

No flapping at all, even with my poor fit. Up to 50 mph.  I don't know how to judge thickness. It feels thinner but stronger than old style tops. Very strong fabric, but not something I have seen before. Stitching is very good quality. I am quite pleased. Long term I will probably go with a different, more vertical rollbar. As someone who has rolled jeeps, I would not like to go without. Let me know if better pictures are desired.

BODY and trim / Update: New CJ3B Bikini Tops

OK.  Only 6 days for delivery via USPS from San Juan PR.  Nice.

Top is specific to 3B, fits windshield channel perfectly, with one snap on either side at the top of the windshield side frame. The length would be just perfect for a vertical rollbar.  I have an old Morris bar that is rounded left-to-right (for rolling) and tips backwards more than normal ones.  As such the top just comes to the back edge of my rollbar, rather than a few inches over.  Straps for footman loops are pretty good, with a quick release buckle so you only ever adjust them once.  For taughtness, again I suffer from the rounded rollbar which I expected.  There is a dart in the fabric that would accommodate the squarer roll bars but makes the top a bit saggy on my jeep.  Fabric quality is hard to describe - different from the old vinyl canvas tops, but very sturdy and tough.  I would call it an upgrade over the old ones.  You do need footman loops in rear, windshield channel and two male snaps already on your jeep.  They do not come with the top.

For now, I will carry it on longer trips in case of hitting some rain.  Perhaps I will change rollbars when I put the new body on.

DM me if you want them.  They have tires on them that are no good.  They will need some elbow grease to derust, but are sound.

Your CJ-3B Project / Re: My 1963 CJ3B Build Thread
« on: April 16, 2021, 10:12:29 AM »
Nice story.
I wanted to tell you that after 5-6 yrs running the Pertonix, I finally put their 40000 Volt coil in.  Not sure why, I bought them at the same time.  Anyhow - it does make a difference.  Really need to spread the coil mounting bracket to its limit though. I run 7mm copper wires.

Also, on your carb.  I posted this elsewhere, but WillysAmerica has new ones on their website for $200 from warehouse in Turkey from the 70's.  Exact fit for 3B.  I love mine - way better than any rebuild I did on mine or the Solex I used for years.  I even bought some extra ones for future projects.

Happy Jeepin.

I checked my 4 engines, no cj code. Two are known from wagons purchased late 50s in western NY. Other 2 are from PA and from a 53 3b and a 55 cj5. Wagon numbers start 1J.

If you don't have broken parts, do it yourself.  You need some vaseline and thin gasket paper.  Go slow, clean it, lube it. It isn't hard to do.

Bikini Top for CJ3B, Black Vinyl
   415301-CJ3

Somar Motor, $75

I finally got around to dragging out the old best top that I was going to cut down for a bikini and cannot find it.  I decided to buy this and see what I think.  About 3 times what bikini tops used to cost in JC Whitney, but that's what you get.  I will report back in when it arrives.

Haven't posted in years and now you all got a new board.  Anyhow - I bought one of these from WillysAmerica ($200).  It is an original and was a direct swap.  Runs sooo much better than my Solex or my rebuilt original Carter.  Their website gave a little more history on them:

use for:
1953 to 1963 F-4 134 Hurricane 475
4X4 Wagon / 4WD Truck / CJ-3B / CJ-5
V-groove Top for Air Filter Clamp

New Inventory, Limited Supply! Made for Jeeps used by the Turkish Army back in the 1970's, never seen the light of day until discovered in a warehouse 3 years ago. Correct appearing carburetor that bolts right up.

I have subsequently purchased several more for future projects because they will not be available forever.  https://shop.willysamerica.com/New-old-replacement-stock-Carter-style-carburetor-p/923808c.htm
