Engine compartment / Cross over tube
« on: March 07, 2022, 10:13:46 PM »
Hi everyone!
I am looking for a cross over tube for my 1948 2A.
I found this one which seems correct but it hasn’t the depression that I found in most tubes (pic #2)

#2

Just wondering if #1 is a CJ3A tube or some kind of repro.
Thanks for your help
Chris

And finally the so expected ALA taillights showed up, just when I was ready to install aftermarket repros. And they are actually two pairs so will have the chance to use the best ones.

There are also some spare glasses and rings, including black one that I guess they are early version or Naco.

Cheers

We are now in December 2016 and axles are ready. I found very little wear on the gears but I had to change axle shafts.

DANA gears dated 7-21-55

Original Bendix type axle shafts with extreme wear so I decided to look for replacements.

And I found period correct Spicer type

Everything back in place and ready for other 65 years. Hopefully!. Oil seals are all new.

What Steve mentioned makes a lot of sense to me. New users or guest users, by the way, are not being impacted by this bug. It seems to be only with some "old" users. It does happen to me.

Rus, let me share some more IT details to explain what happened when you refreshed the page and you were then logged-in in all tabs.
Web browsers manage the access to a given site as A session. You can open multiple tabs as Guest and they are all the same session, just different screens. When you log-in in one tab, a new session is open in that screen. All open tabs are like a picture of that you last did in that tab and will keep unchanged. If you refresh a given tab, the browser will notice there is one new session that you recently opened in one of the tabs. Hence all tabs will show the "new picture" under this username session.
Since the bug is affecting "old" users and you just logged-in then post disappeared.

Does this help to understand what had happened with your tabs?
Cheers!
Chris

Chassis, brakes and suspension. / CJ3B OldForum Post - Wheels

Guys, I thought about replicating here some of the very valuable info available at the old CJ3B Forum from Tapatalk before it is lost.
I could copy and past all the post but that would take longer.
I put all together in a PDF file, enclosed below as an attachment.

Thoughts?
Derek, I hope I am not breaking any forum/copyright rules. If so please let me know.

It looks correct to me. Have you searched for K-H stamped on the inner ring?

You might want to ask Wally at tonkajeepltd. He sold own to me and might carry some more. Just be patience. He might take very long to respond your enquiries.

Your CJ-3A Project / Re: 1951 CJ3A Restomod - A Father/Son Project
« on: May 26, 2020, 07:45:59 PM »
I love father/son projects! That's how my jeep life started 37 years ago when my father decided to do a frame off restoration to our 1943 G.P.W.
My son is now 5 so I am waiting 2 more years to initiate a 2A project together. Everything is waiting for him to become grown enough to handle some tools and don't get bored too quickly.  :D
Thanks to Forums like this one and great websites like Derek's one I am much more knowledgable about jeeps that my father was in 1984!

Your 3A is progressing very well. A very creative previous owner by the way!
Keep those pics coming!

Thanks for sharing. I am quite new here so first time I see your posts. You are doing a nice job with your jeep and mostly having a lot of fun! I decided to do a full frame off restoration at once so I haven't driven my jeep for four years now.

With your last video I felt very much represented. There were so many times that I had planned a nice drive on the jeep and just few minutes later....pufff! She decided not to move any longer. It is frustrating but also the rule of the game with this hobby!.

Keep sharing with us your story!

Pans head slotted sheet metal screws is what I used. So I will keep those. Believe it or not I usually browse Walcks catalog part by part. I've never came across the gaskets. Will definitely order a set shortly.
So I am now quite close to finish restoring the headlights. There is one important piece missing but I will try to do it myself.

Perhaps I can find here an old unusable bucket with this bracket.

Thanks. Once the lockdown ends and we are able to travel to the US again I will order the gaskets. Where did you get them from? Willys Jeep Parts?
Quick one about the sheet metal screws. The screws in yours are Phillips head?
