Title: Hello from clayton OK. (CJ3A owner)
Post by: Daveyboy on August 21, 2018, 06:13:27 PM
Hello all.

I'm dave from southeast Oklahoma.
Clayton to be exact.
Many of you Texas, Missouri and other neighboring states may know of our little off roading area.

I recently picked up a 1951 cj3a.

Driving it now and enjoying as is until I get to the restoration.
I'm purchasing all the parts I need as paychecks allow so when the teardown begins I'll have paid for all the big ticket items.

It's a great runner. Previous owner "thought" it had a bad tranny but that noise ended up simply being a splash shield hitting the front driveshaft! Tranny seems fine as is. No jumping out of gear. No grinding.

Still, I purchased a completely rebuilt t90/D18 case for it as I thought I would have a rebuild in my future. I jumped on this before I knew.
Oh well.

This jeep has a PTO Ramsey winch up front.

I'll get that back on eventually. PTO still on tranny now.

Any other members nearby?

Thanks guys.

I been restoring ww2 trucks jeeps and even airborne bulldozers for years.

After about 7 ww2 jeeps, 3 1941 dodge 1/2 ton closed cabs (like the one pictured) a 1944 dodge command car, a 45 wc51 weapons carrier, a 42 Chevy G506 cargo truck, and a 44 Clark airborne dozer, etc etc I'm slimmed down to the 3A and the dodge 1/2 ton pictured.

Btw: we will be moving to Woodland park, Colorado in two years.
It's up rt 24 from Colorado Springs.

I'll be looking for a club and like minded jeep guys once we get there. I see your from Fort Collins?

You will definitely need to go on the Cj2a page to the "shows and get-togethers" section and check out the current years thread on the Fall Colors Tour which takes place in Sept. every year near Buena Vista - just up the road from you.  It is not to be missed.  You need to go at least once!

Yes, I'm in FT. Collins which is quite a ways north of you but Hawky in in Arvada which is a burb NW of Denver.  There are a lot of guys down near you and I'm sure you will find them in time.

Im a new member just up the list from Colorado Springs. When you get in the vicinity, feel free to contact me. I know several other Willys owners in the area and have shop facilities to do most kinds of repair and restoration.
Looking forward to meeting you.   :)
