This past spring I inherited a 1952 CJ-3A from my Uncle. He worked for a wealthy man (Mr. Jones) as his Farm manager in Rhode Island. Mr. Jones had my Uncle and another employee pick the Jeep up from a friend of his in update New York in the winter 1954. They drove it to Rhode Island where Mr. Jones used it when he visited his farm. In 1962 Mr. Jones passed away and his widow gave the Jeep to my Uncle.
My cousin drove the Jeep on and off until the early 1980's. When he then parked it in a barn, until he finally gave it to me.
As you can see from the picture the Jeep has an addition of a high back seating area, and a flattened passenger floor. It appears that this was altered at the Factory to the best of my knowledge. This made for a "U" shaped seating area in the back.
I am anxious to get the Jeep functional, to date I have removed the engine and sent it to the machine shop. I am just about ready to pull the Tub off the frame. I will attempt to attach a pic of the day I picked it up.
I am very thankful to be allowed to access the "The CJ-3A Page", and hoping to learn a lot from you members.

That is definitely one of a kind.. Looks like a Texas hunting jeep with the raised up rear seating. I can't quite figure out what they did with that passenger floor, as the toolbox is still there....Is the original floor underneath the raised panel? What was the purpose for raising the floor?
Welcome to the 3A page...we'd love to see more pictures.
What do you think the original color was? I see green, blue and yellow. If you get a look up underneath the dash and cowl it might still have the original color showing.

That is a really cool Willys. I've not seen a modification like that before. I think the entry into the passenger side has been lowered. Maybe for easier access? Plus the raised floor :-/
You've got to post more photos of this. Very interesting.
Welcome to the 3A.

F Bill,
I agree, I believe that it was used as a hunting Jeep. Yes the original floor "was" underneath the raised panel. I have since removed that because I want a passenger seat for sure and the floor under the tool box needs repair anyway. I believe that the raised floor just made it easier to allow passengers to get in and out.
I believe that the original color was Hampshire Green although thats just by looking at colors on-line, my cousin paired the strange color combination of blue interior, yellow cowl and the green body. You can still make out the light blue original wheel color and the white pin stripe.

A lot of jeeps in Florida get that back door treatment although usually it's and old school bus seat and not as fancy with the rails. Quail hunting rig across the palmettos.

Oh dear. Looks like you've already got the disease.
The Old Willys Disease is usually incurable.
The only help for it is . . .
