Title: New from Michigan
Post by: JohnR on October 16, 2013, 12:23:37 PM
Hi,
I recently joined the forum, with the hope of sharing my restoration project and learning from members.  I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and am a mechanic in the iron mines here.  My other interests include home machining, collecting Lionel trains, someday actually using my ham radio license and in a distant life, Tesla coiling.  I've been married for five years and have a 15 and a 2 month old.  Initially I wanted a Scout 800, but they are impossible to find in any condition and there are no parts available.  After looking for a while I settled on a flat fender Willys and am looking forward to beginning my project.

Hello and Welcome!

I lived in the UP for 3 years before moving to Alaska, those were the best three years of my life. Tons of great spots to go jeeping, and camping, and fishing, and snowmobiling, and exploring, and and and etc.

There are 3 or 4 scouts at the menco auto scrap yard near Calumet, one with a cool half cab. But the guy quoted me 400 bucks on the phone and 900 bucks in person. Real nice  ::). There are also 2 sitting along Calumet waterworks road just north of the beach. There was one more in Copper Harbor but it moves around so the guy probably still uses it.

Have fun with your jeep!
