Post by: MikeK49 on August 19, 2013, 05:37:54 PM: Well asï¿½ new Member I have read a few of the links on the "how to get started" list. I have filled out all the stuff i think i need to so here is my first post.

Howdy to everyone,

My name is Mike and I am a US Marine with a terrible addiction to building, modifying and wheeling anything with a transfer case. I have been turning wrenches since dad would let me and some times when he wouldn't. I am a chevy man for trucks but a true Jeeper at heart. I only have 1 Jeep and its a 49' 3A and its the only one I have ever owned going on about 15 yrs now. It was handed down to me from my father-in-law who got it from his daddy some time in the 60's so it does have a little family value.
On a personal note, I have 3 yrs left until I retire from the Marine Corps and start another chapter of this life so I am looking forward to that.
I am a recovery guy by trade and a somewhat very experienced fabricator and wrench hand. It is always a pleasure to get into my garage and do something with my Jeep but its gonna be a while before I get to play again as I am headed back to the big sandbox for a long spell this time.ï¿½ With all this being said, I hope to communicate a good bit with y'all and figure out some good stuff about my old Jeep for when I return.

I wish I had your advantage of knowing a large chunk of your 3A's history.ï¿½ I'll bet you have some stories to tell...about it...and about your life.

ï¿½ ï¿½ï¿½ I have a 54 3B as a weekend driver and a 49 3A project. I always come to this page with any "old Jeep" questions because of the friendly and knowledgeable people who frequent this site. And they always want photos!

Good luck on your project; post some pictures so we can all have a look at her. It's a hell of a time and looking at the finished product makes it even better (although it's never really finished. I'm always adding to mine).
