Just joined up today. Acquired a 1950 CJ3A on Saturday. This is my first vehicle project; much to learn. At the moment, I am assessing what I have and where I should end up with this vehicle. I very much am looking forward to participating on this forum.

Welcome Steve,

Looks like you've got a good base to work on.
Of course, the front of any old Willys is usually its "best side".
All the bad rust is on the sides, back, underneath, etc.
 :)

Welcome Steve - my '51 3A was my first vehicle project also. Luckily, you have found a very knowledgeable and patient group of guys here. If they can talk me through a complete rebuild then you're in good hands.

That's a great looking rig.  I'm always excited when another iconic Willys gets a second chance to create huge smiles and lots of thumbs ups!

Thanks everyone.  I am excited about the project and look forward to working with this group. I am still in the assessment phase of this project. Soon the questions will come. So far, things are looking good. Frame appears to be solid, with minimal rust.  Dash is unmolested. Side panels have been replaced with welded in sheet metal, by someone who knows what they were doing. Converted to 12V.

The bad so far is that the starter is on its last legs, the gas line has a leak (discovered last night when I managed to squirt gas all over myself), and there are a few holes in the tub, but they aren't too bad.

Welcome, it will be a fun thing and you are way ahead of what some of us had to start with.

Welcome Steve, looks like you have a great start to a project. In my opinion, it's a great first vehicle project. These are so simple, a monkey could work on them; that said the simplicity can get you sometimes. Ask questions, enjoy it and post pictures!
