New member name - Terry Nichols (no not THAT Terry Nichols). Willys name - Grunt. I have been happily toolin along on the 2a forum when I realized that Grunt had become a 3A. Years ago while trying out a new overdrive we achieved a top speed that we had not seen before and the 2A windshield (not tied down), self destructed along with a strawberry shake and a previously unstained pair of boxed shorts. Parts being hard to find, in those days, we came up with a 3A windshield. Then, two years ago, the original L-head was replaced with a late 3A L-head and now we are just a dana44 away from being a full blood 3A. Thanks for letting us in. The picture (if one shows up) is current as Grunt is now displaying my sons units from all of his deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Grunt is keeping an eye on some former enemies ;)

Well, don't ask me how I did it but it appears that instead of bring my picture to the forum, I brought the forum to my picture.  Oh well, I'll get the hang of it  :o

I visited your picture on Photobreakit, then went to the right side where it has image links in adropdown box. Click on the Image LINK and it told me it had copied it. THen cam here and post, hit control V and here it is.

WHat is weird is if I visit another board and post and hit control V again, sometimes it will give me the entier last thing I posted..Explain that one..lol.

Welcome Terry,

Sounds like Grunt is your classic "Jeep Salad".
As long as all the parts are Jeep, then it's still a Jeep.
My buddy John and I brought a Jeep Truck down from WI that was parts of about 5 different Trucks, Wagons and Sedan Deliveries. We're still discovering other parts that add to the "salad".
The detective work is part of the fun.

Hey there Tim,  2MAW = 2nd Marine Air Wing.  MACG28 = Marine Air Control Group 28.  On the front of the windshield is the unit designation MASS1 = Marine Air Support Squadron 1.  They are all out of Cherry Point, NC.  My sons MOS was - Close air support operator.  His bunch controlled all Marine aircraft, from a couple of Humvees in a specified sector.  My idea was to restore the Willys for him to drive around on base but I didn't plan on it taking two years and by the time I finished it he was out of the Corp.  Oh well, I live on an airport that has a lot of WW2 aircraft hangered on it so I am enjoying it myself.  I just missed getting a picture of Grunt with the Texas Raider B17 that was doing stop and goes here today.  Maybe next time.

That's awesome.  Too bad you son missed out on the Willys during service.  He would have been the talk of the base.

Tell him some guy from Colorado thanks him for his service.
