Looks like it worked just fine! By the way, from one newbie to another, if you know what that brass piece with a valve * at the top, located on the head at the back edge, with a hose attached, might be, I'd sure like to know. I've got one of those on the engine in my 1950 CJ3A. I thought it might be a connection for a heater, but there's no hose on mine so I can't figure out where it might have connected. Got any ideas?

It is a valve for the heater hose. There is usually one there and another hose connection on the top of the water pump. A hose runs from each back to the heater if you have one. Most heaters were mounted to the firewall under the dash on the passenger side.

Jamesr, yes thanks, planning to do tune up [someday]. Meanwhile, I'm about to try to post some pics in the "stock" section of the page to show stuff I'm working on.\
