Hello everyone! Thanks for the add. I'm excited to be here and learn more about CJ-3Bs and CJs in general. The story of how I got here is somewhat interesting. I recently acquired a 1954 CJ-3B from my grandfather. It was purchased by his father in 1954 for just $1500 at the time. The jeep has just 5,600 original miles with the original engine, transmission and as far as I can tell, most everything else on the Jeep. It lived on a farm most of its life and was kept in a car garage along with a number of other classic cars my grandfather collected. When he passed away in 2024, I did everything I could to get it to stay in the family and I am happy it is. I recently was able to get a tag and conditional title for it, which was a challenge of its own.
The Jeep I believe was originally OD green, painted a sort of off green at one point, and then eventually painted the red it is today. My grandfather at the time decided he wanted to make it a replica "Fire Jeep" painting it red and adding a working light and siren to the front, it's very loud. The jeep runs and drives and seems to be pretty mechanically sound. When I got it to my house, none of the lights worked so my first task was getting all of that working. I was successful after replacing some splayed wires and a little trial and error. Kaiser Willys has been my friend. I've replaced the side mirror, steering wheel, windshield rests, hood latches, headlight switch, horn relay, horn button, and shift knob. Theres still some work to do and that's why I joined this forum to help me along the way.
Current focuses are figuring out which tires work and don't work. The current tires I think are winter tires and have tubes in them. I think I am okay with keeping the tubes in order to use the original wheels, I would like some help with what tires work on the 15" rim I have and are compatible with tubes. I may post separately, but I have already been looking around the forums. I need to give her a good wash and cleaning and paint the rims, but other than that she is good to go. I've posted some photos below. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or advice. I consider myself a shade tree mechanic, having a decent garage of tools and basic knowledge. I do most of the work on our modern cars, but this is a whole new ball game for me.

Welcome! That's a real nice "heirloom" and a great legacy to be able to have. It looks great and hope it drives just as good.
You could start a thread down below in the "Your Project" section and then, of course, add more "eye candy" pictures showing all the stuff you're hoping to address.
I'm interested in your conditional title. What state are you in and what conditions are part of the title? Here in Alabama, we're not required to have a title if older than 35 yrs (I think). What was needed to get yours?

I'm in Georgia. I believe a title is not needed for vehicles pre-1962 but I wanted some proof of ownership. Essentially it just means it may not be reflective of all liens that may be on the vehicle. All it took was $17 along with a bill of sale and a VIN inspection by the sheriff's office checking to make sure the vehicle was never reported stolen. These jeeps don't have true VIN numbers but it is registered under the serial number and they were able to see it registered previously.
