Title: dana 41 bearing cap bolts, to seal or not to seal
Post by: tow hook on July 10, 2025, 09:32:08 AM
i've just finished the rebuild of my dana 41 rear axle. I see that the bearing cap bolt holes go straight threw the case. I assume that you guys used a thread sealant on these ? there wasn't any when i took it apart.  thanks

I got a 41 in my 3B (came that way and it works) and I've been inside twice.  This stumped me as I don't recall (didn't notice) the bolt holes going through the case.   I can't initially see any problem with something like permatex on the threads.

i'd have to run to the garage , but i recall 3 of the 4 go all the way threw. the axle could be old then the jeep ? thread sealant it is :)
