Title: CJ3A Ross steering sector shaft info
Post by: fasilpereira on February 16, 2024, 12:35:16 PM
Dear friends,

I live in Brazil and I have acquired a CJ3A recently. As expected, it needs a steering rebuild.

After reading about issues with aftermarket parts, I decided to try to find a set of real NOS steering parts.

I was able to find a guy who has parts he obtained from a Ford/Willys reseller that closed some decades ago. He has 2 7/8ā€ sector shafts available, one is about 5-5/8ā€ long and the other one is longer, with about 7-1/4ā€. He believes the longer one belongs to a Willys truck.

Does anybody knows what is the length of the CJ3A sector shaft so that I can confirm I’m getting the right part?

Thank you,

Fabricio

I have a CJ3A sector shaft that I purchased several years ago from a local supplier.  It does not match either length that you have listed.  6-1/16"

Ok. Maybe his is not really 7/8 as he is advertising. I'll request a double-check on that and post the findings here.

Thanks,

Fabricio
