Title: Original Early 3A Oil Filter Bracket Question
Post by: Hamhog on August 12, 2022, 03:03:18 PM
Can anyone tell or show me which oil filter bracket a 49 3A would have originally? Thanks.

It is the one with the triangular cutout.

This is the style that is on my 1951.

The cutout is round as you can see. Quite different from Stony's

These are the only two styles that I've seen.

Thanks guys.  I was wondering, I've seen both styles, just wondering when the change was made from the triangle style to the round style. I've heard there was a cracking problem with the triangle style.

I think, but am not sure the one with the round hole was used on the M38, which was later.  I believe the triangular hole was used on the earlier 3A’s.  Yeah, Sounds reasonable, the round hole one would be less prone to cracking.
