Title: Excited 3b owner!
Post by: chucktaylor90 on July 12, 2022, 06:07:49 PM
Hey thanks for adding me!  My name is Andrew Davis and I live in Salt Lake City Utah. I just recently bought a 1960 CJ3B that was sitting in the desert for at least the last 20 years. This is my first Willys, jeep, and project vehicle. I have to admit that I don’t know a lot. But this is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I have always wanted a Willys since I was a boy. I’m really excited to get going on this and to learn from all of your experience and insights. Thank you in advance!

Excellent patina!

I've owned a CJ-5 and two Flat Fenders. My advice? Drive it, make a list of the problems, and fix those things in order of severity. Jeeps are fun, they're great to work on, but they're really best when you drive them. Lotta guys will get a jeep and immediately start tearing it down to the frame. Enjoy it for a while (until you buy a second one ;) )

Welcome!

I agree!  Get it running, make it safe and enjoy!

Thanks for the advice. It’s sometimes hard to know how much to do right now. Here’s the challenge I have got. I really want to take it back to stockish. I’m not worried about everything perfect but I like the stock look. Unfortunately there is some significant work that will need to be done. First of all it has an old Chevy straight six. It’s not currently running so I am left with the choice of working in that and getting it going with that motor which I will probably change at some point, or just jumping into an engine swap. I have a friend that has an F head he is not using. It’s hard to know what to do. I am excited to drive it, but just need to figure out where to put my time and money.
